Me too. We need something to break up all this fantasy dorkery!

I think garfield has left the building.

I've been thinking this for weeks.

posted by rocketman at 01:23 PM on March 23, 2004

Well, hopefully WorldCup makes an appearance in this thread, agrees to resume interviews at some point and maybe we can then decide on a victim find someone else willing to be a subject!

hoist someone by their own petard!! I'd like to take this opportunity to mention I learned that phrase from Rocky and Bullwinkle. And immediately fucked up the usage in an English paper in an attempt to look half-bright. So I guess that was a success.

posted by yerfatma at 03:39 PM on March 23, 2004

The real question is: Did you send the English Paper to Jay Ward and demand compensation?

posted by lilnemo at 03:46 PM on March 23, 2004

Any chance the interview could be OUTSIDE our little clique? Like maybe someone related in someway to sports? A sportswriter? (newspaper, book, etc) An executive? (assistant to a general manager, scout)

posted by grum@work at 03:56 PM on March 23, 2004

Grum, I was kind of thinking the same thing. I used to do something similar for another web site, just interviewing whatever odd person I could get to talk with me. Best ever — the art director from the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I'd be happy to start a separate column for that, if it pleases the group and the pantheon.

posted by wfrazerjr at 04:27 PM on March 23, 2004

Would any of those above mentioned someones waste their time with us?

posted by jerseygirl at 05:16 PM on March 23, 2004

Any chance the interview could be OUTSIDE our little clique? Now I know how Patrick Ramsay feels. :( Make that Tim Couch. ...the art director from the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"... Have you had the pleasure of interviewing Tom Savini? He was recently in a horror documentary called "American Nightmare" along with Tobe Hooper, George Romero, Cronenberg, Wes Craven, and John Carpenter. Interesting stuff if you can catch it. Would any of those above mentioned someones waste their time with us? Stranger things could happen; remember bill laid the wood to a writer and the writer showed up here on SpoFi. Somebody criticize somebody quick!! Nonetheless, my offer to answer trivial questions stands.

posted by lilnemo at 05:48 PM on March 23, 2004

I think a lot of my nuances failed to come through when I was interviewed the *first* time. Just sayin. :-P Now I'd be all for an interview with Thierry Henry or someone like that, but I thought the idea was we found out more about other SpoFi members and then laughed at them?

posted by squealy at 06:07 PM on March 23, 2004

posted by billsaysthis at 07:30 PM on March 23, 2004

You know what's kind of amusing? I'd guess the chances of getting Curt Schilling for a fan-to-player interview here would be pretty decent.

posted by jerseygirl at 07:34 PM on March 23, 2004

But then one day you'd repeat something he said to a non-member and there'd be a lawsuit.

posted by yerfatma at 07:47 PM on March 23, 2004

I thought he sort of altered his stance to allow for discussion on online fan sites only, not for media consumption or reprint now. he posted to the remyreport board with a note of that nature.

Would you all rather have an athlete or someone who is in the business of athletics (gms, assistant gms, managers, scouts)?

An athlete.

crunk, you lazy bastard. a listing of the lockerroom archives? google -- or worldcup2002's lockerroom posts -- may have been a better aid to those seeking the first meta interview thread. oh and i'd take a specific athlete over a nebulous professional grouping any day.

posted by yerfatma at 09:47 AM on March 24, 2004

I'm working on creating the bare bones of it, jg. I'll let everyone know when I'm done so the massive amount of editing and adding content can be undertaken.

But seriously folks, sorry, I've been busy with work, it's a good thing, but it means less time for interviews. Argh. I'm sorry to see garfield has left, I know, I've set up interviews and not followed through. Perhaps if I'd thrown my ten fluffy questions at him, he might have stayed. OK, now that I'm all guilted up, you guys can offer up a sacrifice ... I mean, interviewee ... and I'll take it from there. I promise. Really. Trust me. It won't hurt. OK, maybe a little bit, but you'll like it.

I watched the Bruins beat the Sens with Garfield a few days ago. I didn't ask him much about Spofi and still can't be arsed to do the search to figure out why he left, but I'm betting he'll return sooner or later. As Garfield the White! Or something. I think Fork's the guy. Bill(y) has paid his dues too, though. How about a simultaneous interview? Same questions to both. At the end, we can decide who is more interesting. In the case of a tie, I suggest a knife-fight. That's entertainment! Or we could just skip straight to the knife-fight. Something to think about.
