I've tried several times to change my information up a bit, but I haven't been able to get the information to save. I'm on Google Chrome 4.0.249.49 beta, Mac OS 10.6.2. Also tried it on Firefox 3.5.7, same results.

SportsFilter Turns 8: Sunday was the eighth birthday of SportsFilter. Accomplishments of the past year include the server move, the de-redesign (to the way things were in the first place), our collective rediscovery of profanity and the time SportsFilter's admins were thisclose to banning each other. Don't make me sorry I reconsidered, Gary!

Problems with Yahoo?: Avast goes nuts fairly frequently when I try to access our fantasy hockey page, saying the page is infected with some type of malware. I know this isn't Yahoo support, just wondering if anyone else here is having the same problem. I've tried to see if there was a notice or something on Yahoo about it, but when I get this warning, Avast won't let me view whatever page I was trying to access...

How to create an NFL playoff pick em?: As the commissioner of my company's fantasy football league, I'm currently putting up with tons of bitching as people are being knocked out in the playoffs and don't get to play any more. In the interest of shutting them up and getting myself another month or so of peace, I'm thinking that I will probably run a pick 'em. I'm soliciting advice for how to do that, particularly from those who have been there and done that, either as organizers or participants. - What scoring rules do you use? In pick 'ems that we've run on Spofi in the past, I recall a points system something like this: you pick the winner and point spread in each game, and you get a certain number of points for each correct pick. But how many points should you award for each? Do you do "on the nose" spread or plus-minus? - Of course it is illegal to gamble, and of course we would never do such a thing, but if we were to play for...say...Skittles, I'm thinking about something like this: everyone kicks in 10 skittles (or maybe 20). Post-Superbowl, the points leader gets 50% of the skittles pool, second place gets 30%, third place gets 20%. If there's a points tie they split (so for example, if two people tie for first, they each get half of 50%+30%, and the next person gets 20%). Sound good? - Bonus questions: good idea, bad idea, what? How many points to give, and what are some good bonus questions? - Any other pitfalls or ideas for making this more funner? Thanks!

Viewing Bug: Just found this when I got back tonight. Every page I visit on the site is full of many copies of this message: "Warning: strftime() [function.strftime]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EST/-5.0/no DST' instead in /www/php/includes/smarty/plugins/modifier.date_format.php on line 53". Anyone else seeing this? I'm in Google Chrome, Mac OS 10.6.2.

Should SportsFilter Think of the Children?: Kerrycindy, a new SportsFilter user with an 11-year-old son who reads the site, is upset that profanity appears here. Although we discourage some profanity and delete most profanity that's personally abusive from one member to another, we've never had a rule here to keep it as clean as a PG-13 movie. Our archives will show lots of examples of George Carlin's seven dirty words. Should we reconsider this policy and clean our act up?
