SportsfIlter last.fm Group: I set up a SportsFilter group on last.fm and invited those people who I saw (on the Wiki) had last.fm accounts.

How do we add our shit to the wiki? First thing you'll need to do is create an account. You can see the create an account link in the top right corner. After you have your account, go to the members page. It's linked on the left of the wiki. Once at the members page look at the tabs at the top and click 'edit'. Then you'll see a page where you can add your info. It can look confusing but it's not really. You can copy someone else's info and just substitute your own if that's easier. If you mess it up it's no problem. Very fixable. Also, Terrapin is our wiki guru so I'm sure he'd help you if you emailed him (or you could email me, but he'd be more knowledgeable... as are probably several people in this thread).

So, how does this last.fm stuff work anyway? I download their player and listed to the music that I have stored on my hard drive and the site builds my profile based on that? I created an account a few years ago and never did anything with it. In fact, I had forgotten all about until yerfatma accidentally sent me an email to be his last.fm buddy. I saw the email and went all "Huh?" with it and lo and behold, there I was on last.fm. The really funny part is that my user name is imam_hosayn. I guess I was on my Iranian history jag at that time.

Theoretically, if you downloaded the player it put the Last.fm . . . (big sigh) . . . "Scrobbler" on your machine, which has plugins for most media players (e.g., iTunes, Winamp, Foobar 2000). If that's up and running (little red circle in your task bar on Windows), it sends whatever you're playing back to Last.fm.

Cool. Gary figured out that I set it up for all members to be able to approve new members. I approved the last 3 requests, so we are up to 12 now. Enough for the group listen habits to be charted, but we can always use more!

I've added my name to the wiki list. Also, I fixed the order so that it was alphabetized. I do not, however, have any intention of sharing my musical taste with the rest of the world. I'm ostracized enough for being a supernerd, I don't need to ostracized from the supernerd crowd because of my music.
