Sports Bio

I like hockey, specifically the Flyers.

I like Basketball, used to root for the Knicks then this happened.

I like baseball, the Yankees of New York are my squad and I have stood by them through the "dark times" otherwise know as the 1980's.

I am new to soccer (here by refered to as football) The World Cup 2006 AD is my first football expierence but I plan on checking out the MLS season as well.

I try to snowboard but it is more like doing push-ups on the side of a mountain.

I would like to participate in a Hurling match, but I have a strong feeling it would end with my untimely demise.

I dislike the NASCAR, Indy racing, synchronized swimming, worm charming and ice dancing.

Tis nary a beast alive that can choke out a greased Québécois: Vaseline spoils St. Pierre's victory over Penn at UFC 94. St. Pierre's corner man clear rubs Vaseline all over George's shpulders and back, thus negating any chance Penn would have at locking in a submission hold on him.

Power Play: The Blazer score what turns out to be a crucial basket on the Celtics with an extra player on the floor. Surprisingly the Blazers employed no subterfuge and left all six players on the court to be spotted by the refs. After discovering the mistake officials still let the basket stand.

Kevin Garnett makes Big Baby Glen Davis cry: After the Boston bench starts to blow a 25 point lead, KG chews his teammates out during a timeout. Glen Davis' response? Sit and sulk on the end of the bench. KG's response? Cough up the ball on the first play after the timeout.

Angels' Pitcher Nick Adenhart Killed in Car Crash

If you get caught drunk driver I believe you should get another chance but as a repeat offender and to kill someone in the process should get you a pretty hefty jail sentence. Jail is a pretty awful place so I can't imagine how killing this guy would be right or better than the punishment he will probably get. This has to at least be DWI plus 3 counts of vehicular manslaughter (which can be a felony if the driver is intoxicated)

Everyone makes mistakes and Gallo made his already and he really fucked up his second chance. Hopefully he will learn his lesson if he survives what I hope is a lengthy jail sentence.

McCain Seeks Pardon for Boxer Jack Johnson

McCain loves boxing.

I really was never aware of this, it kind of makes sense of his opposition to MMA (specifically UFC) during its inception.

Texas cop delays Texans RB Moats at hospital as mother-in-law dies

Two, there's a difference between not having as bperk called it "the most up-to-date insurance card" and not having proof of insurance. She could not prove that she had insurance.

Not to nitpick here but there is no difference. The cop needs to know she HAS insurance not HAD insurance. If she can't find her card or finds a card that expired on 3/26/09 and its 3/27/09 than she has no proof of insurance. Both constitute a failure to produce proof of insurance and is not a serious what so ever (in NY at least) provided you can submit proof of coverage for the day the ticket was issued. You in no way have to be detained for such an infraction. I worked for the insurance company with a reptile mascot for a number of years and handled thousands of this situations, it is not serious at all.

Again things maybe different in NY but from my personal experience a cop can give you several tickets in one shot (my experience was for a seatbelt, tail light, expired registration, expired insurance card) I was told to step out of my car and the State Trooper called a tow truck. The Trooper told me I could take a ride with the tow and call a friend but I could not get the car until I went to court or the DMV and settled my registration issues. I was so livid I told the tow guy to fuck off and was left by an NY State Trooper on the side of the Meadowbrook State Parkway on Long Island. In fact so serious were these 4 violations that all I ended up paying was an $80 seatbelt ticket, the other 3 were thrown when I mailed in my insurance card, proof I fixed my light (which a Nassau County cop didn't even bother to look at he just signed the paperwork and took my word) and current registration. I was able to retrieve my car on Monday (I got nailed on a Saturday) after going to the DMV and getting my updated window sticker for the registration I ain't buying this 5 tickets = jail argument.

At the end of the day the officer in the Moats case exercised poor judgment and when you are in a job like that poor judgment can get innocent people hurt or cast an extremely negative image for your PD, I am sure his fellow officers are pissed because they know they will be under a microscope now.

Banned Aid?

Sweet! That took some imagination to come up with that one.

Nah dude, I stole it from a commercial in the WB or CW or whatever that channel is called. And they in turn stole it from someone else. I don't think you're a bad guy or anything, I just think that you don't realize how offensive what you said can be to someone. Think before you speak, that is all I would ask.

Banned Aid?

To me this is different than TO showing of, or a pitcher pumping his fist after a strike, or trash talking after a dunk. This is just a guy wearing something that is not part of his uniform. Its more like the time John Vanbiesbrouck used red tape on the butt end of his goalie during a home game (back when home sweaters were white)

Legendary Wrestler linked to slaying of 97 year old man

While I can understand that blocking blood flow to the brain could cause a person to pass out, the problem was that when Gagne applied the hold the effect was almost instantanious.

That is the way it would work in the real world. The way Hogan used to fight out of the sleeper with the ref checking his arm three times is bogus. Blood chokes know you out in a matter of seconds.

Legendary Wrestler linked to slaying of 97 year old man

Whoops, I misread my own post, thanks for the correction and not crucifying me for it.

I have to seriously call into question the actions of the staff at Friendship Village. From the MinnPost article it was stated that he was involved an several alleged incidents before this one. The staff had to have known he posed a threat to other patients.

I know its funny to shit on wrestling and make jokes about Sleeper Holds and what not but Gagne did illegitimately try to choke Gutttmann out once before this. He was allowed back into the community after this incident but no mention is made as to how his level care was changed after this. In my mind the blame can fall squarely on the shoulders of the Friendship Village management.

Legendary Wrestler linked to slaying of 97 year old man

For those not in the know Verne Gagne was a founder of the AWA (American Wrestling Association) he helped start the careers of Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig and The Nature Boy Ric Flair.

Sorry thar everything is from the same source. It seems that the local papers were following this story more closely than most other sources and the updates were more frequent on the city pages blog.

Oh No, You Di'int!

This is gonna be a long so if there is a point to this novel of a post its that we need to stop being so reactionary about this topic because it us way more complicated than steroids=wrong. I have refrained from posting on this topic for a long time because I felt that there were only a few players using and the ones that had so much incriminating evidence pointing towards them were given a free pass (until they possibly lied in front of Congress) This topic is so all over the place so so is my comment.

I fail to see how the story of one baseball player (even of the caliber of Alex Rodriguez) is breaking news. I believe that there were 104 and other players who tested positive. If you believe that only those players are the ones using you have about 1 in 12 using steroids. I am basing this off of a 40 man roster per team they percentage would obviously get higher if you just went the 25 man roster. If you live in the real and believe that more than those 104 use who knows how high that percentage can go. Why they haven't looked into pitchers using I'll never understand, I believe that they would have more to gain from steroids. To me the real story is that 104 players tested positive, how many more have or will if tougher testing policies are implemented.

I under stand why some people are upset about this. No one wants to see the sport they have played and enjoyed since childhood tainted with steroids, HGH or whatever else they use to gain an edge (which I personally believe is a small one) I still believe that the cream of the crop (like the Bondses and Rodrigi, and Clemens and McGuire) will always be amazing players and the PEDs just gave them that little extra push to take them from all time greats to Legendary. All this nonsense about changing records or what will happen if A-Rod passes Bonds is just foolish, who knows how many pitchers they hit home runs off of were on the gas? Like it or not this is a part of the game now. All you are doing by wondering who's on it and who isn't is just going to ruin your enjoyment of the game.

Back in 2004 I was pretty upset with the state of baseball. I felt someone like Bonds who had clout because he was pulling in so much more revenue could use PEDs and the MLB officials would just turn a blind towards. Here in 2009 it is more apparent that PEDs are much more widespread that was initially thought. I think baseball is unfairly singled out because this is a problem that transcends baseball and effects all areas of sports.

Morally I have a hard time understanding how to feel all about this. I know steroids are illegal but I am a firm believer in "my body my choice" No matter how harmful something is for you no one has a right to say what you are doing is illegal. My problem arises when the MLB decides to say what drugs or supplements use and if you brake our rules we can fine, suspend or terminate you. Where do their rights as an employer end when it comes to what you put into your body? Why should something that improves your performance be viewed as a bad thing even when it has its side effects? If there was a drug that made computer programmers program faster or better but had side effects would Computer Associates or Microsoft not want their employees to take it even if it had potentially harmful side effects? So long as no one is being forced or coerced into something they don't want to take what is the problem with wanting to be the best in your particular field? Should I feel be bad about posting this long pointless comment with so many hypothetical situations that could never be answered?

Power Play

Its an excuse in the fact that the Celtics lost focus and spent so much time and energy pissing and moaning about the basket being counted. They should have sucked it up and blown th Blazers out of the building, God knows they have the talent to do that.
