Er, yerfatma, maybe I'm missing something that everyone else knows, but what does the fact that TO was mentioned twice in posts have to do with race? Owens is a selfish idiot, whose mouth caused his team a chance to play for a championship this year. Ron Artest is selfish idiot whose lack of self-control caused his team a chance to compete for a championship last year. That too, is a common thread, not just the fact that they are rich black men. Hey, listen, I am as sick as the next guy of hearing about Owens (or Artest or plug in name of selfish, me-oriented sport or movie star), don't get me wrong, Ron Artest is one of the 10 best players in the league, and a complete tool and seems to be a nutjob, and WOULD start on the vast majority of teams in the NBA, except for (perhaps) SA or the Mavs or Pistons. So, what does this have to do with race? You couldn't have any conversation along this line about most players in the NBA, or football, or baseball if thats true, because the majority of players in all these are non-'white' or Hispanic. You might make a case that its CULTURAL bias (hip-hop culture versus something else) , but I don't see any evidence that any comment in this thread is racially (or culturally) motivated. Maybe, I'm just naive. BTW, watched Sprewell for several years here in NYC and with 1 or 2 minor exceptions was a very solid citizen with a great game on both ends, and I think the 'gotta feed my family' thing was fed by the media and the PJ thing was somewhat overblown. (PJ suspension was deserved but have you ever listened to PJ - I can see why someone might want to 'strangle' him)

I love the Ron Artest comments when looking at them through the article that was in SI in thier preview issue. He said that he loved Indy and that he was a fixture in the community. I guess things change quick in the Heartland.

Well, there was no additional cruel and unusual punishment on top of the execution and the protesters outside were against his execution, so it lacked the class of the typical event. Really could have used a touchdown dance by the warden or something.

I would estimate that 80% of the people posting did not read the associated story. If you took a survey where the people were forced to tell the truth, you would find that 95% hate ron artest and couldnt care less about what his desires are. They came to the thread to express they're jealousy and hatred toward someone they feel is beneath them,and yet makes more money than them. their sole purpose was to try to disguise their racially driven comments with what they think is witt . TO has been out of the headlines lately,Mike tyson's been off the map, so they have to find someone else to project their fear, hatred, and insecurity on.

I get what you're saying, however i might be inclined to think otherwise based on his history of no self control. "My opinion" certainly is not intended to provide an excuse for ron artest,hell, i dont really like the guys game that much.(his game reminds me of anthony mason or a young dennis rodman although He's becoming a better scorer then they were). I just think he has the maturitiy of a 14 or 15 year old. when a person is as defensive as he is all the time you have to begin to question his emotional state of mind. And as anyone who has ever been in love(one of the most powerful emotions) can testify, when you're overly emotional, it definitly affects your ability to be rational. Is artests problem love? i doubt it.Is it anger, probably. However his ability to be rational obviously doesnt exist. Ron Artest would help any team that he goes to. The LAKERS have showed interest, George and Bynum, or Kwame and Bynum. Indiana is getting hosed but at least they would get something. The SACRAMENTO trade would be great for both teams. Artest could turn that team around, they are bottom five in the West and some Defense might help them. Peja could supply some scoring behind JO at the Pacers. Best deal I've seen for both sides. The KNICKS don't show much interest, however, Artest and Q-Rich's salaries match up, so there is a possibilty. The Knicks also need some help. You have to realize that wherever Artest is traded, it will be a very lopsided trade. He is the best guard-foward defender in the league and a very good offensive player. Keep your eyes on the team that gets Artest...
Philly could give up Lee Nailon and john salmons.
