Winnipeg completes the comeback and holds off Hamilton at home, while Calgary holds their own in a good, old-fashioned barnburner.

Back to a full slate this week, and a chance for me to double my losses! Oh, and it's Labour Day weekend, so Monday games and stuff.

WEEK 10

B.C. @ Toronto (Friday, September 2)
Well looky here! The two bottom-feeders managed to scratch out wins last week. Who wins the Battle of the Barrel?

Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan (Sunday, September 4)
These two trains are going in different directions. Winnipeg: winners of five straight. Saskatchewan: losers of four straight. Who's your money on?

Montreal @ Hamilton (Monday, September 5)
It's early, but this game could be a turning point in the battle for home playoff position. I can't help but think that Montreal digs deep and comes up with the cash, but maybe you think differently. Or at least think up better metaphors.

Edmonton @ Calgary (Monday, September 5)
The Esks ride into Cowsville to try to regain the top spot. But they'll have to halt both Calgary's four-game win streak and their own three-game losing streak to do so.

Good luck!

Two lions escaped from the Toronto Metropolitan Zoo. Toronto by 7. They decided to have a look around the city. Winnipeg by 15. So they started down to Yonge Street on a Friday night. Montreal by 11. When they got there, one lion turned to the other and said: "Hey I thought you told me this place would be crowded." Edmonton by 9.

What happened to Saskatchewan? I had to stop picking them to win every week since they seem to have gone down the tubes.

I see being out of the country last week and not making picks did not significantly detract from my point-earning potential.

Ah, Labor Day weekend, when the sports world starts to get really interesting. Hockey is not far off, baseball rushes toward the post season, the NFL finishes its pre-season silliness and gets on with it, and the amateur CFL prognosticators of SpoFi try to get another few weeks out of their ouija boards. So here we go!

BC Lions leave the zoo and head for Toronto. BC has not had a lot of success, and Toronto, although unspectacular, has at least gotten a few W's. Argonauts win by 12.

The metaphor of 2 ships passing in the night has been used to describe the situation here. Since neither team is located anywhere near a seacoast, I think we should ignore it. Blue Bombers have been consistently winning, and Rough Riders have been falling off their horses. The pattern continues, and Winnipeg is the rude visitor, winning by 7.

When little birds get too close to cats, they frequently get clawed. Not so this time, as the Alouettes do their pterodactyl imitation and beat Hamilton by 4.

While the Eskimos ran into a killer whale 2 weeks ago in BC, they still must be considered one of the CFL's better teams. The problem is that Calgary has played well of late. Stampeders won't hold the Eskimos to a rouge, and Edmonton will win it by 3.
