dusted, I appreciate that you needed holidays and all, but I was wondering what the colour coding would be like for my 9-0 skunking of the Knicks and was disappointed there was no update that week.... ;) That said, I see the second half of the season being a shitfight for the 3 through 6 spots in the top-tier playoffs. Injuries will likely be the deciding factor.

posted by smithers at 03:17 PM on January 08, 2007

The 9-0 color is so bright, we'd need these: The Knicks being mopped up by Smithers and Dikembe Mutombo.

First winning week in about 6, thank God for the immortal Mark Blount.

posted by dfleming at 04:32 PM on January 08, 2007

I don't know what happened to my team, but it certainly wasn't good. I think I'm looking for boards, but any trade offers would be welcome.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 05:19 PM on January 08, 2007

You know who I hate? Mark Blount. First, when has he ever scored 20 is three straight? Second, did he ever have 2 straight when he was on the C's? I miss Rashard. Webber, not so much. It's amazing what one guy can do (both ways). Combine that with the Nets only playing twice last week and I was hurting.

oh great, michael redd out 4-6 weeks. blount, got another 10ppg to throw me?

posted by dfleming at 07:24 PM on January 08, 2007

Yukon, I don't know what the hell you did to Mark Blount, but for some reason, he sure does get fired up to play you. Didja steal his prom date or something?

85 3PTers made!?!? That's it!?!? That's less than half of anyone else. Futhermucker! Don't mess with me inside though, hey boys? FG% and BLK stats suggest I'm controlling the paint on both ends ... could stand some Rodmanesque help on the boards though. All-in-all, Gasol's return has made me competitive after a really slow start. I'm lookin' for someone to bolster the outside game though ... so I'm still willing to consider some trade offers.

jeez...could you sort by assists next time? Hopefully I see a rise in my FG% given the trades I made over the next month or so...it really was my major motivation

posted by YukonGold at 02:46 PM on January 09, 2007

If you check out the Win-Loss totals, interesting that only vagabonds is perfect in a category (FT%, 10-0)

And its also funny that I am 0-10 in like 3 catergories. I think that with Lebron, I can make a good push, but if anyone wants to send me some offers that will benefit me (points, rebounds, just about all stats I need), send me and offer. I am basically out of contention, but its a long season. By looking at my team, the players arent that bad- are they?

Well, at least you beat the real Isiah to picking up Webber's wonky back and knees.

Webber waived. Now he might end up on the real Knicks, too.

There's a place to shine.

I think that Webber will pay dividends for my team. I knew he was getting his contract bought-out, and saw a few contenders wanted him. I wouldn't doubt if he started averaging 17 and 8 for a contender in about a week.

posted by Kendall at 12:10 PM on January 12, 2007

I wouldn't doubt if he started averaging 17 and 8 for a contender in about a week. You are an extremely optomistic person. However, there is a question I have. Does the basement have a flat screen TV? I ask because I'm about to be down there with you.

A little FPP flavor here (where it's most appropriate)....good synopsis of the NBA's injury epidemic. First NBA player he quotes? Grant Hill. Hilarious! Few things I've learned since my injuries...

  • You can't win points with two guys hurt (unless they suck, but why would you keep those guys on the bench?)
  • No IL is brutal
  • Trading for someone who is currently injured is stressful

Trading for someone who is currently injured is stressful I thought you had a playoff spot locked up, but this league is so tight, nothing is guaranteed. Even Spitztenglicious could move into first place with a month of strong play. Only the Knicks are completely out of contention.

posted by dusted at 02:53 PM on January 15, 2007

The Rashard thing killed me (for now). Not sure how much of a hit I'll ultimately take on that Lebron/Davis for Brand/Johnson. I've gotten the help in the columns I wanted but Ricky has come on quite a bit in the last month. Odom is back soon. Rashard at the ASB, so all is not lost. Kidd is carrying the squad till then.

Perhaps of note to you jokers -- on NBA visitors' locker rooms, from Doug Smith, the Toronto Star beat guy, today:

So, the worst: - Milwaukee: Think atom hockey only without the charm. - Detroit: Have to use a blackboard to give the coaches some privacy. - Minnesota: A rabbit's warren of corridors and foot-wide lockers. - Sacramento: Dump of an arena, dump of a locker room. The best: - Golden State: Huge room, too comfy, maybe that's why they always lose there. - Atlanta: The way the Hawks draw, you could probably fit a night's audience in there. - Chicago: Plenty of space and a nice office for the coaches to hide in. - Denver: Lots of room to breathe.
