#gettheashestotheashes got the ashes to the ashes.

She sat with Aussie legend Steve Waugh during the first day of the final test in Sydney, who then took her to lunch and for a tour of the ground. There might be a point to Twitter after all.

In other news, I am not a freaking green jacket!

Rich Rodriguez got a post-firing vote of confidence from someone very special.

A lower-level British soccer player posted this tweet: "Like to thank the fans who booed me off the pitch. Where's that going to get you! I hope you all die."

And then on the fourth day, she got to bat.

No shot at you, bb, but how exactly has Matt Millen not done well for himself? The article's point seems to be who would want to end up like Millen -- what, you mean rich and still extremely gainfully employed?

Dude, you work at the Freep. I wouldn't be counting your chickens.

Millen also hired Lewand and Mayhew who are doing a good job turning the Lions around now.

Boston Herald columnist and local radio host Steve Buckley has outed himself.

Dunno about that but you can bet if the selectors had spotted Waugh in the crowd they'd have been trying to find some pads for him.

My reaction to the linked article was that I didn't think that the good people of Michigan needed to be reassured by Millen of all people that Rich Rod was going to be OK wherever he went.

I don't know why the Freep ran it. Unless their goal was to use the painful past to convert the present state of wary relief into further discontent.

To be fair, Millen said some very positive things about UM. But at this time, perhaps it would be more constructive to let both Millen and Rodriguez fade from prominent immediate view as much as possible.

Since she tweets about knitting and taking care of children, maybe she's a good fit for the Australian side. She can perhaps knit them a bowler or 2, and give them nice treats so they won't feel sad about losing. It sounds like she enjoyed Sydney, though. I still remember my one visit there about 24 years ago, and agree it's a great place to be.

Tough luck (pun intended) for the Panthers?

Ron Franklin claims he's getting a lot of support for being a chauvinist who calls women "assholes" when they don't like being called "sweetie baby".

Maybe she can hold the tail up just long enough tonight to make England bat for an over or two. Ha.

The Ashes 2010-11:

They're pretty shit.

They're the worst ever.

Hang on, maybe they're not.

Sorry, yes they are.

Oh, yes they definitely are.

What do you call a world class Australian cricketer? Retired. What do you call an Aussie with a bottle of champagne? A waiter. What do you call an Aussie who can hold a catch? A fisherman. What's the difference between Cinderella and the Aussies? Cinderella knew when to leave the ball.

I can honestly say, it's been one of the most enthralling series of test cricket I've ever seen. Seriously. Those Indians and South Africans are a cut above. Suppose the Ashes had its moments too.
