New and Improved NHL Playoffs Pick 'Em Thread.: I just wanted to start a fresh, new thread to avoid confusion. Come on inside and show off your amazing powers of prediction.

Here's the new scoring system: - 1 point for picking the team that wins its series. - 1 bonus point for picking the correct number of games a series lasts (You still have to get the series winner right). - 1 point each for picking the player from either team who scores the most goals in the series (pick one from each team, possible for 2 points here). - 1 point each for correctly picking the goalie from each conference with the lowest GAA (possible for two points here).

Does the "lowest GAA" category have a minimum number of minutes played requirement? Alright, a decision has been made (by me): The goalie must have played 2 complete games for his GAA to be counted.

BTW, what if there's a tie for who scores the most goals? What if there are three guys that score, say, two goals in a series? What happens then?

posted by mkn at 09:12 AM on April 10, 2008

If there's a tie for most goals, then everybody who picked one of those players gets a point. I'm sure we'll see many correct guesses in the first round. I don't see GAA ties happening, but if they do, then the same will apply to the goalies.

Thanks 86. I take it that you got my email? Did you want to pick goalies as well? I'm willing to give you an exception 'cause you made your picks in the original thread, but then I changed the rules up on you.

I'm around, but I felt too many games had been played before I had opportunity to make my picks. I didn't think it would be fair to the other Spofiers in the pool, so I am going to abstain. Best of luck to all though.

Dagnabit...I never miss this thread. Stupid autoimmune disease. I'll agonizingly observe from afar. I give the brave pick award to Folkways and Monica Poland for picking the Bruins who haven't figured out the Habs for what seems like a decade.

I hate myself for wussing out and actually giving the Senators a win in my predictions. I definitely thought they'd get run over, but figured they might squeak out a cheap win in overtime.
