I've worked in brodcasting. Radio specificaly, and i know how hard it is to do a live brodcast when people are walking around the studio doing things that could wait the ten minutes until im done with the halftime show, of a high school football game. And thats at a podunk little station in the middle of an indiana corn-field, that nobody listens to anyway. Berman works at ESPN, the symbol of class and professionalism in sports brodcasting. The polished product that you see on sports center, or MNF, is the result of a strict set of unwrittne rules. Things like dont walk around the camera, no sudden moves of any kind, keep the variables to a minimum, leaving the on-air "tallent" (i always hated being called that) to do his or her job in the best circumstances. when someone, or many people break those rules it tends to set off a shit storm after the fact. The shitty thing is that people who havent been there are gonna see that and think berman is an ass-hole. We should all be able to enjoy the humor in it, but i hope people will see it in the context of a job. Im sure we have all had those days when some ass-hole fucked up our day at work by acting unprofessional.

It is a great video though.

By the way, the video is from 8 years ago. You can see in the backdrop it mentions 30 years from 1970 - 2000. But I still thought it was worth posting since it just recently surfaced. I think Arlen Specter is going to look into the cover up and why it took so long for the public to "be enlightened".

The Casey Kasem tape is awesome in the extreme. I have it on a collection called "Celebrities at their worst" and it's just gold!

I don't work in television, but can certainly sympathise with Berman's frustration. I'm sure most people have worked with incompetent jerkasses at some point, maybe even lost it on a few on occasion. We're just lucky there wasn't a camera to catch the flip out.

By the way, that outburst was pretty mild compared to some of mine!

I spent over 11 years working with US Marine Corps aviation, and 3 more with the US Navy (2 1/2 of which were on an aircraft carrier). Believe me! Chris Berman's language doesn't even come close to the standards of what is normally employed by the members of our Naval Services. All you have to know is that every noun is accompanied by a descriptive gerund beginning with the letter 'F', and which describes a sexual practice.
