He's disgracing my family name!: Joey Harrington might be on his last legs as the Lions' starter. Jeff Garcia's close to returning, and Dan Orlovsky, although an untested rookie, was the only QB able to get the Lions into the endzone in the preseason. Is Joey Matt Millen's version of Joe Dumars' Darko? Previously discussed here.

It's not Joey's fault, they need to draft him a receiver.

Yeah, and no quarterback could suceed with the pitful running game they've got. They need to draft him a backfield partner.

That game was friggin' brutal to watch. It was a race to the bottom and even though the beheaded Panther heads had a higher score at the end of the game, they were still losers. Yick on that game! From the arghticle: Teammates have yelled at him on the field and the sideline. Hoo boy! When your QB doesn't have his teammates' respect, then it may be time to go with another one.

A RECIEVER, he needs at least 3 and they should have gone out and got him a big named Tight End.

Hmmmm, being called Princess by your teammates, and told that you suck by the fans. Nope, still do not miss Scott Mitchell. Though I am begining to look forward to Garcia. Orlovsky. 2006. I will not miss thee, My Lady Joey.

Sucks that some of the greatest TE's and WR's come out of Ann Arbor, but don't end up in Pontiac. As a long suffering Lions fan, Sunday's mess just made me laugh. After you've been kicked in the junk enough times, it just goes numb...

The Lions need to get rid of Matt Millen. I can't prove it, but I'll bet good money that he's the reason Joey has been in this long, because he refuses to admit he fucked up with a #3 pick. The Lions wouldn't be any worse off the last 3 years with Mike McMahon under center, and coulda given him either Jeremy Shockey or Javon Walker to throw to...

oh, and yerfatma, I'm thinking the comments about giving Joey WRs are meant to be sarcastic...

I like Millen. I think he wasn't quite experienced enough when he first got the job. But, I like the people he has on staff, Lewand and Mayhew. I think because of his initial inexperience, the organization has struggled somewhat getting things done. But, their drafts haven't been bad. And, as for Harrington, Millen just wants to make sure that Harrington is the problem and not the surrounding cast. Harrington looks like he should be a better NFL QB than he has been.

Millen just wants to make sure that Harrington is the problem and not the surrounding cast I'm all for giving a player a fair shot. But in 3+ seasons, personnel around Joey has changed, both on and off the field...the only constant is him, and there has been no real improvement. Maybe it's time to call a spade a spade...

Listen Detroit fans you're QB is gay,and he is soft that combo alone equals NO PLAYOFFS!!!!

Harrington looks like he should be a better NFL QB than he has been. I don't watch much Lions football, so I don't understand why this is such a popular feeling people have about Harrington. Is it because he kicked ass in college and still shows flashes of the same brilliance, or because he just looks like what people think a good quarterback should look like (white, handsome, athletic)? Not just asking you bperk, as it seems to be the general concensus on Joey H.

I think it is because he has all the physical tools necessary to be a good QB but he makes so many errors that he is not. He moves well, his arm strength is pretty good, his accuracy is pretty good. Everyone keeps waiting for him to put it all together, but for some reason, he can't. That's where the problem lies.

Haven't they used 3 consecutive #1 picks on receivers (drug suspensions aside)? Dear Yerfatma, Yes they did get 3 first round draft pick WR's and they did get a big name Tight End. You see I was trying to, nevermind you would not understand.

I'm okay with my QB being gay, as long as he performs on the field. Does he look like he should be a better QB? After watching him for the better part of 3 seasons. UGH! Noooo. I think the hopes that looonnnnngggggg suffering Lions fans have for finally having a decent QB is what spurs the long past popular feeling have had about Princess. Being white, handsome, athletic has nothing to do about it. Any Lions fan would support anyone as long as there is some glimmer of hope, (only to have it destroyed by yee cursed football Gods that spite the lowly silver & blue).

You see I was trying to, nevermind you would not understand. Yeah, I get it. My sarcasm detector didn't warm up by the time I hit this thread earlier. Sorry. As for Millen, I'm not impressed by his overall achievements, but could he really have passed on Harrington? Seems like Joey was labeled "Can't Miss" coming out of college. Hard for the GM of a team with a poor QB history to pass on that kind of thing. Who was the last Detroit QB to be effective for more than a year or two? Mike McMahon, Charlie Batch, Gus Ferotte, they've all been ok.

I'm from the Detroit area and before the season started I said "joey's got no more excuses." Then what do his teamates do? They decide to quit blocking, quit running, get hurt and get on dope. Seriously Joey hasn't been good at all but he has like a second and a half in the pocket, his recievers run half-assed routes and when open don't catch the ball. With the injuries they had guys that went to Saginaw Valley State or something like that were in the game for the final drive. Joey needs to improve but this WHOLE offense is FUBAR.

The Steelers would probably gladly swap Tommy Maddox for Joey!!!

Harrington and Garcia both stink. The team's offense has major problems, with injuries, suspensions, rotten quarterbacks. I really don't think I can take watching Jeff Garcia get beat, battered and mauled any more. God, I'm glad I'm not a Lion fan. Are there actually Lion fans out there?

It's true that I'm guilty of still waiting and hoping for Harrington to get good one of these weeks, and every week the chances of him figuring it out get a little longer. I'm wondering if he's beginning to doubt himself. He's never had a surrounding cast, even with (or maybe because of) the turnover and injury problems all around him, and now it's very possible that he'll have problems adjusting when he does get into a stable and quality situation. Garcia is a fine QB, but at this stage in his career, he's a band-aid solution. Joey needs to figure out a way to keep his chin up and his attitude strong. Raw ability was never the problem. Maybe he needs Tony Robbins or something.

I watched Orlovsky in person at many UConn games- hes a really solid QB. Probally wont ever be a starter- but could be Gus Fuerotte good one day.
