Five men detained, questioned for praying at NY Giants game:
The men were questioned and then were not allowed to return to their seats, but were instead assigned to seats in another section. Three guards stood near them, and escorted them to their cars when they left the stadium. Was it warranted? The men are Muslim.

Pinella to kick hat from booth in '06?: Lou Pinella's ongoing stint in the broadcast booth during the ALCS is being called a success. Many have expected the former Devil Rays manager to catch on with another team, but he has yet to make plans for next season. Asked if he would make the move upstairs, Lou responded, "It's not for sure -- nothing's for sure. I like it. I'm enjoying this."

Saints skip town.: With Hurricane Katrina bearing down, players were given time to help their families evacuate on Sunday. Then, the New Orleans Saints took the last chartered flight out of town. From California, where they are borrowing the San Jose State Spartans' field, they watched their own stadium's roof sustain significant damage while some ten thousand people sought refuge inside. Three deaths have been reported from within the Louisiana Superdome, the last of which a probable suicide. It is unclear yet if the stadium will be ready for the home opener against the Giants on September 18. Let's hope the Saints and other sports teams will host fundraisers to help the area during its long road to recovery.

Pedal foo: With the Tour comes two little suggestions: a cycling category for SpoFi posts, and a spoked wheel SpoFi logo to shuffle with the balled logos.

I just want to feel like I've owned something so completely for once in my life. The perfect confluence of opportunity, vision, and skill. If it ever happens it'll be one amazing piece of code.

I did see the video before reaching my conclusion. It seems fair to call out the design of a course that allows a skier who has hit a jump wrong to land directly on a "safety" fence.

Egger said it was a "surprise" to see Zoricic's line of flight off the jump, though "we put the fences there because you have to protect the racers for the finish area."
You have failed immensely.

They would "know," lbb, because most humans are able to take visual and auditory input from their surroundings and use the data to create a pretty accurate model. They would also know, I'm betting, because they came from Jersey to watch a hockey game, not from Idaho to see the Liberty Bell.
I don't get the pointed remarks. I'm not even close to supporting what the Flyers fans did. I feel for the victims, especially if they truly weren't aware of the drunken hyper-machismo surrounding them.

If that constitutes looking for trouble, wearing an out-of-town jersey anywhere in public in Philly after a game would qualify.
No, it wouldn't. Geno's is a special kind of place.

The fools who assaulted the Rangers fans are completely to blame for their actions, and they should be punished in every reasonable means. They're the absolute worst. That's the story here, and I don't mean to redirect.
But it doesn't take a lot of imagination to think that Geno's would be an unstable and potentially unsafe scene for a couple of guys wearing Rangers jerseys at that very moment, and I think most hockey fans from Jersey would understand that very unfortunate fact.
I spent 6 years living just a few blocks from Pat's & Geno's, and it was an intersection I avoided after the stadiums let out, even wearing the right teams' logos, because it's just that kind of place.

Going to Geno's after that game seems like something you'd do if you were looking for trouble. Not to blame the victim, but that wasn't ever going to be a drama-free situation.

(especially that particular play as i still believe he was across the LOS when he threw it)
(already past the line of scrimmage, by the way)
I have to wonder if you've watched the play as many times as you claim. McCoy was two full yards from being considered past the line of scrimmage when he released the ball. LOS is the 39, he releases the ball at the 40 with his left arm at about the 41. His entire body would have to be past the 39 for them to call that, when in fact no part of his body is within a yard of it.

A lot can be said about TO's time in Philly, but he did not underachieve. In fact, as an Eagle he showed how well he can play after recovering from a significant leg injury. Of course, that was a much younger TO.
