Hingis taking care of business Down Under: Swiss Miss is back!
I am not sure either, but I think she's Sergio's ex. She's my favorite player and she's gonna win it all. Besides being a remarkable athlete, she's the sexiest athlete south of Maria Sharapova. She's 25, come on, and she's sexier than most of the 18-19 year olds on the Tour.

Hingis is a throw-back type player. It seems power dominates the game now. It's nice to see her outthink her opponents and completely open up the court for her superior accuracy. She's not bad at the net, either. Hope she makes the final.

Power is the name of the game now, look at Roddick. However, it is true that she fools the opponents through by being old school. I am an old school guy who hates new school. Again, hope she wins.

Good on Martina. I've always enjoyed watching her play. Hopefully her comeback will last a bit longer than Capriati's. She's definitely young enough to have a second go at a successful career. didn't she date Sergio Garcia for a while? Yup. Sixth paragraph down. *How weird to speak about a 25 year old rebuilding and re-establishing her career?

It's a tennis thread, so talk about tennis. As for Hingis vs. power, a lot of her powerful opponents have already exited stage left, so...relative lack of power might not be a showstopper this time around.

I enjoy watching her play. Best of luck to her. Brownbat, while I don't think old school men should be keeping their eye on girls that are still teenagers, I don't think I would go as far as trying to tell them what to type. What is your problem? You came to a UFC thread and called my thoughts hooey without even addressing the topic! Why didn't you just discuss UFC? Talk about pot, kettle. Practice what you preach girl. You can comment how you wish, but nobody else can? Get it together and stop being a control freak. Its unattractive.

Sounds like Sergio is a player. No wonder he is squeezing his golf club shaft so much before each shot. It seems like Martina should older than she is. For some reason she seems like she's been around forever. The game of tennis has changed but she has stuck to what made her successful. Most of the time, being smart will win out over power. Martina is no dog either. I'd take her over the Russian.

Umm.."Swiss Miss" is her nickname, just as "Chuckie" is her nickname too. I didn't give her those nicknames. Wow, people are really sensitive on this board..and btw, I'm female! Anyways..I really hope that Hingis goes far. Definitely a thinker and strategist, similar to Roger Federer in that respect. It's been a pleasure to watch her play in her comeback thus far, and she hasn't lost a set which is pretty awesome. And I agree she is hot - because of her smarts and great smile!

'Swiss Miss' is the name given to her by the media who are too dumb or too lazy to come up with anything that isn't cliched. We can do better than that here. World beating 25 year old female athletes do not require patronising nicknames. And (not you, ny knicks) I wish we could have a thread about women's tennis that doesn't degenerate into a beauty contest. Cor! The one I like is better looking than the one you like! Please.

She's got better than average foot speed and is smarter than yer average tennis player. She has an uncanny ability to put the ball where you ain't. It's really fun watching her beat people while totally making it look effortless.

If it hadn't been for her ankle injury a few years ago, she would have won a ton of tournaments. It is rare for someone to take that long a lay-off and come back the way she has. I'd like to see her win the tournament. I may be wrong but didn't she date Sergio Garcia for a while?
