CFL Pick 'Em, Week 4: Tight spreads last week, and I don't mean mustard. Points were hard to come by for most, but maybe you were the lucky one that nailed that spread. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure, at least not until you check out the standings and make your picks inside.

Comeback week! Toronto defies all known laws of physics and pulls off the big comeback win at home; Montreal grinds out a tough comeback win on the west coast; Saskatchewan overcomes a tough first half for the win over the Eskimoes; and Winnipeg... did not pull off a comeback at all.

Spitztengle nails the Montreal spread for a healthy five-point week, but rahilsuleman and argoal keep pace atop the leaderboard with four points each.

It's looking like it might be another week of tight spreads... or at least, three-quarters of a week.

WEEK 4

Hamilton @ Montreal (Thursday, July 22) Tough draw for Hamilton: their momentum-building blowout win leads them right into Montreal's home opener. I'm sure they'll rebound nicely next week, though.

B.C. @ Toronto (Friday, July 23) A struggling B.C. team gives Toronto its best change to win three in a row since oh my gosh I have no idea when. Did I even just write that?

Edmonton @ Winnipeg (Saturday, July 24) Battle of the basement! Winnipeg likely gets a home edge, but tough to think that Edmonton will lose their first four games—maybe too tough.

Saskatchewan @ Calgary (Saturday, July 24) Calgary gets a chance for an early statement game at home—a win would put them in a tie for first. But Saskatchewan is a very well-deserved 3-0, so Calgary's work is cut out for them.

Good luck!

Hami looked better than Mont last week, but homer openers do not usually favor the visitor... Mont by 9. Argos are slowly putting it together, BC... well... a little slower say. Argos by 4. Edmon is likely due... Winni has some issues. Ed by 6. Cal is not really looking that good, yet, Sask is the best this season, currently. Sask by 3.

Is anyone else as baffled as I am by the CFL's Power Rankings this week?

For example, Calgary (#2) lost to Toronto (#7) last week. And if I'm not mistaken, the defending Grey Cup champs (#5) only lost their season opener in one of the most talked-about and highest scoring games of all time.

Kinda makes you go hmmmm, no?

I am not surprised, mainly due to the following paragraph:

The model used for the 2010 rankings are based on information gathered from the 2009 season.

If I recall my preseason predictions correctly, I thought the Tabbies would give the Larks a run for the money this year. The start of the season looked like I'd be dead-wrong, but things might be shaking out a bit differently by Week 4. On my PS ticket, I'm going Tabbies, 'cause I sure don't think the Als will cover this week. But win can Hamilton win outright? Yes. Yes, I think they can. TiCats by 6.

As poorly as he's doing so far this season, I think I gotta go with Schultzie on this one. Gotta go with logic (i.e., that the Argos are in better shape than the Lions going into this one). Toronto by 10.

We cheering fight fight fight on Eskimos. We're marching right right right on Eskimos. We're charging down the field for all to see. We're shouting rah rah rah fight on to victory. We're fighting on 'til every game is won. The Green & Gold is bold and when we're done, we'll tell the world we're proud of Edmonton. And the Edmonton Eskimos. Let's go, boys ... time to stick one in the W column!!! EE by 18. For the NFL Network watchers, I'll be okay if it's closer and more exciting than I think it'll be

Calgary as favorites? You gotta be kidding me. There is likely to be a mid- or late-season derailment for a game or two, but this is a focused and dangerous ball club. Cates and Chuck (Hugh Charles) will steamroll over the Stamps. Much more effective than Reynolds will be on the other side. "Could" be a close one, but Green Riders will be back in their regular green lids, and the Rider Nation can pretty much color McMahon green anyway ... Saskatchewan by 11.

Thank you Arceneaux! Lions' receiver just drops a SURE 6. Stamps and Campbell aren't the only ones to do it this season. Now, if only the Argos can come back and make them pay for it. I need some points after foolishly thinking the Tabbies could take one last night.
