Thanks for sticking this up Hater. What no progressive point system? What about some total OT guess per round? Hey how about number of games per? or any other goofy NHL playoff possibilities.......... Just Saying.......

We can all try really, really hard, but I still think Buffalo will be on the outside looking in.

<sour grapes> I don't know if I can watch the playoffs this season. In the past, when the Hurricanes missed the post-season, I could still easily enjoy all the action throughout the playoffs. But this season is a bitter pill. The Hurricanes were tied with the third most wins in the East. In fact, had there been no shootout, the Hurricanes would've had thee most wins in the East. Their overall record versus the Eastern Conference was bested only by Montreal, NY Rangers and Pittsburgh. They set a franchise record of three seasons in a row with at least 40 wins (since the WhalerCanes joined the NHL in 1979). All they had to do was win one more measly game. Talk about every game meaning something. Hopefully next season, they won't sleep walk through games from November through January. </sour grapes>

screw this thread, maybe someone can make a good one. I would love to do one of those point things but I can't make a table and maths ain't my strong suit.

How about: Maximum points possible in Round One: 40 2 points for picking the team that wins its series 2 points for picking the correct number of games a series lasts 2 points for picking the player from either team who scored the most goals in the series (pick one from each team) 2 bonus points for correctly predicting all aspects of a series (winner, games, high goals for both teams)

NoMich, I feel your pain sort of. My squad has only 1 playoff appearance in the last 10 years and we haven't won a SC since 1961. I guess its probably still better than the pain of being a Leafs fan! OK Here's my picks for 40 pts. Habs in 6 Kovalev, Sturm Sens in 7 Heatley, Malkin Caps in 6 Ovechkin, Prospal Rangers in 7 Jagr, Parise Detroit in 5 Zetterburg, Radulov Sharks in 6 Michalek, Iginla Aves in 7 Stasny, Gaboric Ducks in 5 Getzlef, Richards Thanks NoMich and Hater. This thread will work just fine.

I was just making a suggestion to Hater for a points system. I don't mean to step on any toes here.

2 points for picking the team that wins its series 2 points for picking the correct number of games a series lasts No no no. Don't do this. We did this in previous years and it detracts from the whole thing. You should only be rewarded for picking the right number of games if you get the series winner right. At the very least, make it 2 points for # of games with series winner and just the 1 if you just get the number of games (so you get rewarded if you expect something to go seven games).

You know, you're right. I remember people going 'round 'n 'round about this before. For clarity's sake, I'm going to start a new thread. Please refer to that one for now on. Sorry folks.
