Ouch, what a miserable week, dropping 5 spots. Maybe I should have used my wild card to transfer through my injury woes.

Thanks: titillating title.

May I change my team name to Rollercoaster Dragons?

I figured there would be some 70-point sides this week with all the scoring. I'll take the bump up the table, they've been all too rare, but I'm kind of surprised.

posted by chicobangs at 01:34 PM on October 24, 2007

W00t! Although I would give back 30 points for today's scoreline versus Bestikas to be reversed. Heck, I'd give all the points back. UEFA appear not interested in the bribe, sad to say.

Bad week for me. These things happen though.

Does getting five blue weeks in a row get a prize? Only the blues, brother. Only the blues.

Nice work bill. Can anyone explain to me why Schmiechel Jr isn't playing?

posted by garfield at 12:07 PM on October 25, 2007

Wasn't he the third string goalie to start the season? He got games due to injuries but now the injured are uninjured. BBC football gossip roundup connected him with a move to Coventry. AND I had a feeling that I have been doing lousy. The form guide table clinches it.

posted by gspm at 02:15 PM on October 25, 2007

gspm's right, he was second/third in line at the start of the season level with Joe Hart. He also put in a very dodgy perfomance away at Fulham before he was dropped. I expect Isaakson to be first choice keeper at Citeh sooner rather than later now that he's recovered from injury. But you never know with Sven.

posted by squealy at 03:32 PM on October 25, 2007

A ha! Much appreciated. Now I have to wait until Saturday to dump his non-playing behind. Kirkland, could you please put up a clean sheet against Birmingham this weekend, so I don't loathe my decision to punt away a defender instead. sorry squealy.

posted by garfield at 03:47 PM on October 25, 2007

Schmiechel went out on loan this week to get first team minutes. You have to think, though, that next summer he has a good chance to be battling for the #1 jersey unless Sven buys a top rank veteran.

Off-topic a tad, but Pennant is out 10 weeks for surgery on a broken leg. Possibly explains why I've felt all season he hasn't justified coming on as a sub, much less all the starts. Club spokesman Ian Cotton said on the Reds' official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv: "For the last eight weeks Jermaine has undergone intensive treatment at Melwood between matches for the injury. But following an acute exacerbation of the problem during the game against Besiktas, it has now been decided he requires surgery."

They played him with a broken leg. Sheesh.

posted by worldcup2002 at 05:34 PM on October 26, 2007

Again, gspm, I ask, may I change my name to Rollercoaster Dragons? Given my proven method, this week should bring in a bumper crop of points (but not enough to top the weekly chart) and a slight jump up the overall table, followed by a complete letdown next week.

My season has gone tits up, big time. Ah well.

My season continues to go pear-shaped, with tits up.

Tits down here, recently. One can only hope the good fortune continues.

The market has corrected here too, and my moobs are again facing upward.

posted by chicobangs at 10:00 PM on October 28, 2007

To extend (ahem) the metaphor, my tits are down this week, but only 'cos I'm getting rogered from behind.

posted by owlhouse at 11:51 PM on October 28, 2007

I blew up my team last week and did pretty good with my best placing in a month. But the transfer penalties knocked me down a few notches. I used the transfer wild card in week 2 after ending up second from the bottom in week 1. So, a good week after a month of blah, but wholly to soon to tell about what direction the tits are headed.

My finger has been poised over that wildcard trigger for weeks now. For those who have pulled the trigger, what's your evaluation? For those still holding the wildcard, what's keeping you from using it? And gspm, can I change my team name to Rollercoaster Tits?

posted by worldcup2002 at 04:56 PM on October 29, 2007

For those who have pulled the trigger, what's your evaluation? This is two years running (out of a total EPL fantasy career of 2 years) where I've done it early. I've basically assembled a shit team, stumbled along, then pulled the trigger to create a decent team from people who have done well in the given year. It's disappointing to not have the option left, but it's one less variable to consider each week, too. It worked out for me this week, but only because I got ridiculously lucky.

posted by yerfatma at 05:12 PM on October 29, 2007

For those still holding the wildcard, what's keeping you from using it? I plan on waiting until April 1 and then doing an end of season run with all the undervalued high scorers.
