SELF-DESTRUCT: was the strategy of choice to deal with this referee. This is a pretty amusing story, in a 'has anyone ever done that' kinda way.

The anal retentive in me is very upset that they couldn't just score that one extra goal. 149 is such an odd number, and it offends my sense of order.

What do you think the half-time speech was? "We aren't scoring fast enough! I want the midfielders to make that transition pass faster. Let's go!" At what point would the other team just whip out a deck of cards and play bridge at midfield? Do you think the radio announcer would even bother keeping track after 20 or so? "Another one....another one...another...aw fuck it." Would they make substitutions to keep the players fresh? Would they spread the wealth around and make sure everyone gets at least one own goal? Do you think the keeper would stop the occassional one to make it interesting? I want to know this sort of thing!

Do you think the keeper would stop the occassional one to make it interesting? Or what they could do is practice taking PK's against the keeper. If he saved them, then he could just turn around and toss the ball into the goal gently. How often do you get to practice PK's in front of thousands of people? I think they missed a valuable opportunity.
