"Lucky" Luc Robitaille retires

Hockey:Baseball::Robitaille:Molitor
(but without the drug history)

A Hall of Fame player, but not one that immediately leaps to mind when you ask "Who are the best players of the past 20 years?"

Also, made a name for himself in one city (Los Angeles:Milwaukee), but won his championship in another (Detroit:Toronto).

Robitaille and Hull being inducted in the same year will be a nice contrast: steady, consistant, mild-mannered vs flashy, mercurial, out-spoken.

Too bad he couldn't have been on a Kings team that won the Cup. At least he got to win one in Detroit (damn Red Wings). I'm a Kings fan and I will miss watching him play. Class act. Later, Luc-and thanks! Next stop, Hall of Fame.

Luc would not touch or even get close to The Cup before he won it with the Red Wings. That was just his little superstition. The look on his face when he finally did hoist the Cup was priceless.

CLASS ACT.....100 PERCENT.....it's the anti al leiter. putting people up in his own home when they're displaced by natural disasters, finding them places to live when they're ready to move on with their lives. luc and his wife are just terrific people. hats off, cheers luc....and we'll see u in the hof shortly.

Luc has been my favorite player ever since his rookie season back in 1986. He always came across as one of the classiest guys to ever play the game and the NHL will definitely miss someone like him. I'm very grateful that I was able to see so many of his games in person and I will be in San Jose at the final game of his incredible career that will end with his induction in the Hall of Fame. Thank you Luc for everything you gave us through the years.

Luc is a pretty select company I would never think to group him. 600+ goals is still an unbelievable milestone.

As more players reach these scoring milestones will the importance of 500 goals be diminished? Three active players are pretty much assured 600 career goals (Jagr will probably net 700) and 8 or 9 active players will hit 500.

During the defense-first decade (95-05) it seemed like 300 hundred goals would be the new 500 goals. With the more wide open play will new scoring milesones be establishd? Will 600 goals be the new 500?
