The Viagra Comeback Players of the year are ... (hint: not Rafael Palmeiro)

Comments

He has carried big wood this year

"I'd like to thank my family... and major league baseball for not testing for human growth hormone."

Amen Jersey girl. Thats BS. Not the Griffey part of course.

Could the opening of that article been any more sportsporn?! Griffey will "cherish" that little phallic statue? Puh-leeze.

Well, there's something to be said for rising to the occasion after being down.

It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "getting up for the game"! JMM

Griffey is deserving of this award. Last season he was in a deep hole because of his injuries, with soft numbers in an abbreviated season, but this year he stood erect with firm, hard resolve and swung a big stick. Kudos to Ken! JMM

jerseygirl, did I miss the news that Giambi was exempted from drug testing? Kindly direct me to the source.

Great. So now the juicers are getting awards. Interesting. What kind of a message does this send? And I know that Giambi never failed a drug test and came back from a couple weirdo injuries that may or may not have been related to his tasty steriod snacks, but still - there wasn't another choice that could have avioded all this?

Kinda hard to avoid. Based on performance he's the clearcut winner. Got another suggestion in the AL?

Fans voted for it, AFAIK.

I would say their stroke is back.

I could see the AL award going to Sexson, Colon, or even Contreras or Halladay. None of those players came back as much or as dramatically as Giambi, but if MLB wanted to avoid awarding him, they could have.

...will cherish the award, which was presented by Viagra and voted on by fans through MLB.com We did it, not MLB. Good work all around, people.

there wasn't another choice that could have avioded all this? We did it, not MLB. Good work all around, people. My vote was for Bob Wickman. After Tommy John Surgery in 2003, and then to comeback and get 44 save this year. He had my vote.

He is up for the delivery man of the year also.

I am happy for Griffey-I am glad that he was able to play for most of the season.

I'll give even money that Bonds wins the Little Blue Pill award next year in the NL.

I wonder if Bonds is using the "little blue pill". If it was good enough for Raffi------

good call, Wickman.

When I was akid I always thought it was WHEATIES as the human growth hormone. Know how to make a hormone, don't pay her.

Thanks Yukon.

I agree with JoJO that Wickman was stiffed.
