Sometimes you have to take the small victories when you can get them, but this BoSox fan would caution sports fans everywhere that there's no prize for peaking too soon...

seriously? you're pounding chests in May, for being 12 over .500, when 9 of your Ws are from beating the toothless twins and the AAA royals?

after turning my nose up at the tigers' quick start, i did some research and came up with a trivia question: what has been the best division in baseball to date? . . . . . .... NL west. Results: NL east (5) 89-102 (.465) AL west (4) 73-82 (.470) AL central (5) 95-95 (.500) NL central (6) 117-117 (.500) AL east (5) 99-91 (.521) NL west (5) 106-93 (.532)

That's the spirit Furnaceman! Restore the Roar! (granted, stolen from the Liedowns, but if they are not going to do anything . . . ). Granted it's early, but considering what the Tiger's faithful have had previously, I say way to go boys!

The Tige's aren't the best team in the AL...yet. They are looking good though. The offense is potent, the defense is solid, and they finally have some young pitchers that are performing well BEFORE they trade them. It's been 20 years, and a lot could still go wrong, but they may finally be clawing their way back into the ranks of baseball's elite teams.

Thank you Detroit, you've been fabulous. My goodness, folks, what a class act. And now for our next act...

Mets vs. Tigers in October. Jim Leyland for president. Which is more likely?

Anyone want to bet that the Tigers miss the playoffs?

when 9 of your Ws are from beating the toothless twins and the AAA royals? Yes, those toothless Twins whose 04 record of 92-70 was mediocare at best. The Royals are the Royals so no comment.

gradys, please. that was 2 years ago. 83-79 last year, 3rd in division. 17-22 this year, 3rd to last in team ERA in the MLB when pitching is supposed to be their strength. there are few as bad as the royals, but these are the 2006 twins, not 2004.

Pistons (good team), Red Wings (good team), The Shock (good team), Tigers (becoming a good team)...now only if the Lions (bad team) can follow suit!

Ninjaperson. You've caught me with my pants down but not in a bad myspace kind of way. I meant to post the Twins 05 record but must have got ahead of myself by choosing the the better 04 (it is 2006 right?). The only team that's had our # all year is the ChiSox. And just maybe the Indians, Twins and Royals would look better on paper if they didn't have the face Detroit so many times early in the season.

They are 0 and 4 against Chisox and they think they are #1??? They only have 15 more to lose. Who's smoking what at Comerica? Let's see what they do in June when they play some REAL teams NYY, Bos, Hous, CWS Really guys it's a marathon not a sprint...talk to me in September

What I don't get is why everyone thinks that its' such a surprise that the Tigers are doing this well! They have actually under-acheived the last couple of years, and they are finally putting all of their enormous (and not too well-known) talent into winning games. Time for me to get on my high horse - Before the season, I actually guessed that these five teams-Yanks, Red Sox, White Sox, Blue Jays, and Tigers-would be battling it out for 3 AL playoff spot (I'm not counting the AL West winner, the Wild Card won't come from the AL West).

Daammmn, give the Tigs a break. They sucked ass for so long, at least give them their due for not shooting themselves in the foot. At least they are winning games they should be winning. And even when they were the joke of baseball they still always played the Yanks and Bosox tough. I think they will give all the blank check payroll teams a run for their money. They have no excuse not to. Their lineup is pretty solid top to bottom. If the players perform to the level expected of them, I think a lot of people will be in for quite a shock. Hell, if they keep up the way they are going now, it shouldn't be too hard for them to contend for the postseason. But hey, what do I know, except that Kool-Aid they serve is pretty gooddddddddddddd

Seeing these cats winning like this is definitely a sight for sore eyes. I know it's early and the true test is yet to come (coming up: ChW, Bos, Ny and Tor). One thing that nobody has really mentioned is PITCHING! The Tiges, Twins game just ended and Verlander won the duel against Santana. There's more where that came from. (Santana is sweet though). F'n Pistons : (
