Rickey hangs 'em up. Rickey could probably put up a .375 OPS in his sleep, but instead, Rickey's calling it a career.

Babe Ruth's lost home run In 1918, Ruth hit what would be called a walk-off homer today. But back then, the rules called it a triple. And, except for a brief period in the late 1960s, it's been a triple ever since. Talk about an asterisk.

Five Life Lessons Learned at Wally Moon's Summer Camp: You'd think that baseball camp would be like a Tom Emansky video, but the fact is, you can get real life lessons out of it, too. Great human interest piece.

I went to the fight, and an Arena Football game broke out. It's not the Malice in Auburn Hills, but it's still pretty ridiculous.

Tkachuk to the Thrashers as NHL Moving Day approaches In the wake of Peter Forsberg heading to Nashville, the Atlanta Thrashers acquired Keith Tkachuk from the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. The Blues get Glen Metropolit, first- and third-round picks this year and a second rounder in 2008. Atlanta also nabbed Alexei Zhitnik from Philly on Saturday. Who else should be packing their bags, who should be in the market and what moves should your team make?

Broncos Lose Another Player Damien Nash, 24, collapsed and died after a charity basketball game in suburban St. Louis on Saturday. The game was to benefit his brother's heart transplant foundation.

Damien died, not Darris. Derris was the brother.

White Sox and Cubs brawl. Cubs manager Dusty Baker has no problem with Pierzynski, but Rich Hill does, calling the collision "gutless" and "pathetic". White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen's response?

"Tell that Triple-A [bleep] to shut the [bleep] up. Tell him to start throwing some strikes or he's going to get Dusty fired."

Any questions?

diastematic -- the rule changed early in Ruth's career.

Ying: Of course I don't mind. In fact, I'd probably have been better off finding one at a legit website. It would have prevented the ridiculousness that overtook this thread. But for those skeptics out there, I hope you appreciate the irony. Here I am, bemoaning the mistaken identity, and your response is that I am my doppleganger. Wonderful.

He probably does have my name. There's a guy whose a sportswriter with my name, and there's a guy in my office with my name, and I have a cousin (distant -- 2nd cousin, I think) with my name, and I regularly get mail and email with my name. It'd hardly be the first time, but it would be up there among the more annoying.

The Mvs are good. Isn't their fault that they're a 4 seed -- they were a game or two from being a #1.

Fantasy baseball is going to trial! There is a dispute between a St. Louis Co. that operates some fantasy sports leagues over the internet, and the internet arm of MLB. MLB thinks anyone using names and stats needs to buy a license, the St. Louis Co. says those are public domain.

It's unlikely this will go to trial. And I wonder why the story -- which has been bantering around for months -- just hit the NYT now.

Pens could be bought; moved to Hartford A Massachusetts developer wants to buy the Penguins and either keep the hockey team in the city or move them to Hartford, Conn., where he is trying to get state officials to build a new arena, a newspaper reported Friday.
If he does buy and move them, what would the team be called? The Pen-Whalers?
