Tigers Win 3-1 in World Series Game 2
posted by Joey Michaels at 10:41 PM on October 23
Detroit Tigers Reach World You-Can't-Be-Serious A bottom-of-the-ninth three run homer by Magglio Ordonez sent the Tigers past the Oakland A's and into the World Series for the first time since 1984. To put this into perspective, the Tigers had one winning season the past 13 years and lost 119 games in 2003.

NBA - Playing with old balls The uproar among the players in the NBA has forced David Stern to announce that the NBA may abandon the new synthetic basketball in favor of the 30 year old model.

Lebron agrees to an $80 million dollar extension Great news for the Cavs. They have LeBron locked up for a while... but are they really contenders?

Cleveland will not win the division! They may win a few more games than they did this past season with Hughes being healthy, but not the division. I think that Detroit will win it again because they will get a better mix from Nazr M. than they did from Ben. Don't misunderstand me, Nazr is no Ben, but he shoots it better from the charity stripe and can score better.
Big Ben the newest Chicago Bull? He wasn't happy with the Pistons initial offer. So Wallace will sign with the Bulls for $52 Mill over 4 years. True Hoop has a good recap of how the story could develop. Still waiting for reaction from Blog-a-Bull.

Puffy (then) and the Bad Boy Family said it best..."All about the Benjamins baby!" Ben will be missed in Detroit, but I believe the Pistons needed a shot in the arm after the ECF! Hopefully this will be it and they will put it together next season and make another run for the LOT! (Praying: Can they please get KG or Bonzi somehow, someway...Joe D. make some magic again!)
Yzerman to call it quits The HHOF awaits. Also, Pronger to wear one of those new Ducks uniforms.

I must say that although I am not a hockey fan, I grew up in Detroit and I've never really heard or saw any bad press about Stevie Y! I take my hat off to a professional athlete who has been a professional human being for his entire career. Professional Sports need more guys like Mr. Yzerman! (sobbing internally)
60 Million Reasons to play in Denver If I'm correct, didn't Nene tear his ACL last year? Yet here we stand, and Nene gets a 6 year, 60 Million dollar deal...tells you how much teams will splurge for size.

Crying Foul You know who made the stupidest moves in the NBA Draft this year? Not Seattle. Not Boston. Hell, even Isiah made a better decision going with Balkman. The winner for the WORST move in the draft goes to the Houston Rockets, sending Rudy Gay (picked 8) AND Stromille Swift to the Memphis Grizzlies for Shane Battier. Has to go down as one of the worst draft day trades ever. Makes very little sense

No no no no no! The worst pick was Darko over Carmelo, Bosh, Wade and anyone else in the top 10! When given a pick, especially that high, you take the best player available! The Knicks failed to do that by taking Rolando Balkman (Orlando Blakman in disguise and rejuvinated) over Williams! WTF?!
Dumars hopes to keep Pistons' nucleus together If Detroit is able to re-sign Ben Wallace, an unrestricted free agent, the Pistons president of basketball operations said he expects to keep the team's nucleus intact to make another run after falling short of the NBA finals for the first time since 2003

I've been saying KG all along, but the pistons would have to give up sheed and ben! But that would work because KG can replace both of them with his scoring and rebounding, he's a walking 20+12 guy every night! I agree that the "team" game has had its run and now it's time to recruit a slashing scorer with the ability to help defend.
Wade delivers Heat 3-1 lead Detroit? Done.

I think it's time for Joe D. to recruit a scorer or a super star with talents like K.G. A player like K.G. can replace both Wallaces and will only lack in 3-point shooting. Is K.G. available? He can hook up with the Pistons and get that ring! He could add that scoring they need on the block and that 15-17 jumper with defense!
Coaches face suspension for wins of 50-plus points The football committee of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which governs high school sports, is adopting a "score management" policy that will suspend coaches whose teams win by more than 50 points.

I am sure several of you have seen the animated movie The Incredibles. Well in it, the parents tell Dash (lightning fast speed) that he cannot compete! He tells his mom that she always tells him to be his best but that she does not really mean it cause he would pummel the competition!

Debo270: That's an exact antithesis to competition as this rule or regulation suggests! I don't think that on any level of competition that no one wants to be given "sympathy" plays or points or wins for that matter! We compete to win and the better we are than our competitors, the more they will work hard to make competitions thrive! How long did it take you to come up with that...brilliant!
Bobby Brown should have no place on a sports website, but this Bobby Brown has done some things that make marrying Whitney Houston seem sane. He has run across Australia, the US and now Europe, but by far the silliest thing he has done is compete in the 1997 World Deca-Ironman Championships. For the uninitiated, that involves swimming 24 miles, before cycling 1120 miles, and then running 262 miles... without stopping. "Eventually, after 8 days, 6 hours and 14 minutes, I crossed the line to finish the toughest endurance race in the world. I had broken the old world record by 6 hours and set a new British record by some 20 hours." He finished fourth.

grabofsky74 and Bill, you guys rock! Beer is King and Bobby Brown is the King of R&B, as his graceful queen stated a while ago! It takes great will and determination to accomplish something like that! Man, it's hard for me to run a mile, I could not imagine running more than 10 in a day, maybe even a week!

Warstda: I agree! I have seen too many grown-a$$ men who act like children because they were sheltered while gorwing up! In real-world sports, there are no such handicaps! The reason for playing sports is competition and that means there are people competing to win! Do we all go out to work and tell ourselves, "I am going to work to half of my ability today because I am making my co-workers look bad with my hard work, effort and abilities! Yes!!! I am glad that I can give a subpar effort!" No! Our bosses, coaches, wives or whomever wants the best out of us! So tell those kids to play hard and give it their best shot! If they win by 50 or more, then the message was well received! It happens in high school basketball all the time!
Besides better grip, what else can different types of gels or liquids do to enhance pitching the ball? I don't really know anything about pitching, so can someone help me out?
