Germany vs Greece philosophers (YouTube video). My soccer post about the priests vs imams reminded me of the classic Monty Python sketch "International Philosophy Match", which I just so happened to watch this week, on the Python revival show "Monty Python's Personal Best" on PBS. Now, thanks to YouTube, I can easily share this magical soccer match with you. The game is awesome but the winning goal is just fantastic.

YouTube and copyright violation going hand in hand once again.:) Great sketch though.

Socrates was offside but what a diving header!

I have to say, I agree with Marx - clearly offside. Another great Socrates goal here [also YouTube].

Hilarious...thanks for the laugh.

Given that this is the pre-CGI era, I'm assuming they actually dressed up and did this. And given that, that's a hell of a good header.

Given that this is the pre-CGI era, I'm assuming they actually dressed up and did this. And, they filmed the goal TWICE, as the reverse angle looks nothing like the original angle.

Other Monty Python sports related sketches: Twit Olympics, and, a personal favourite, the Hide and Seek World Championships.

Who cares about any of this?

Everyone except you, im050483.

Who cares about any of this? As a fan of the German philosophers, I found that loss heartbreaking too, but you don't see me flinging around teleological imperatives.

Is Kant your favorite player-philosopher? Because he was nowhere to be found in that match. And I state that as an a priori truth.

I love it. That was a great goal, I just wish that there were more scored and they didn't wait until the 90th minute to score but for the sake of the sketch that was probably best.

Wasn't Beckenbauer the "surprise pick" ahead of Kant?
