Sorry Coach my ADD was acting up? LaRoche's Blunder Puts Spotlight on ADD: Adam LaRoche knows how it looks. He doesn't seem to be trying hard. He comes across as inattentive, sluggish, a little too laid-back to be a professional athlete. LaRoche's relaxed approach — and a disorder that makes it hard for him to concentrate — have come under scrutiny after the most embarrassing moment of his three-year major league career. On Sunday, after scooping up a routine grounder that should have been the third out of the inning, LaRoche took his time getting to first and was stunningly beaten to the bag by Washington's Nick Johnson, who was hustling all the way.

I'll put all of this to rest. If anybody has seen last night's Clippers/Suns Game 5, you all will remeber the play that Sam Cassell made, or I should say didn't make. Sam couldn't cross the half court line in the allowed 8 seconds, and therefore, caused a crucial turnover which helped seal the deal for the Suns, and also gave them a 3-2 series lead. This is the conf. semi-finals of the NBA playoffs we're talking about. Not game #42 or whatever it was of a 162-game MLB season. If Cassell's completely un-excusable mistake in the Overtime does not get a discussion, why the fuck are we talking about LaRoche's little mishap.
Germany vs Greece philosophers (YouTube video). My soccer post about the priests vs imams reminded me of the classic Monty Python sketch "International Philosophy Match", which I just so happened to watch this week, on the Python revival show "Monty Python's Personal Best" on PBS. Now, thanks to YouTube, I can easily share this magical soccer match with you. The game is awesome but the winning goal is just fantastic.

"I am happy that they considered me but I don't want anything more to do with this because for two days my life has been invaded and my privacy destroyed." Scolari takes himself out of consideration for the England manager's job. When a Brazilian tells you your culture takes soccer too seriously, you should probably think about it.

Monday's Greatest Play It's been 30 years since Rick Monday of the Los Angeles Dodgers swiped an American flag from a pair of protesters intent on burning it in the Chavez Ravine outfield. Listen to Vin Scully's call of the moment and the memories of those involved.

Switch pitcher
"Pat Venditte Sr. came up with the idea when he was tossing a ball to his 3-year-old son in the backyard.
Wouldn't it be neat if he could get Pat Jr., a natural right-hander, to throw equally well with his left?"

RACE for the mvp I guess it truly was a close RACE for the MVP award, and with no surprise the LIGHTER breed wins again. I will just ask all you folk reading this, "if Kobe was white and had this type of season would it even be a question of him winning it". Agreed Nash did not have Amare and Kobe had all those spectacular games, but lets really get down to the core level of this award, and the simple fact was the race issue as it relates to this award is "white is RIGHT", and I'm just one folk who disagrees...

The Good, the bad and the ugly Can Steve Y. come back for another year? Should he? He in my eyes he's playing as good as he did 5 years ago in the glory years, but I would hate to see him punch-drunk like an old fighter going down for the last count. No matter what happens he will go into The Hall with all the votes, but if he can tack on another year or two...why not?

Can the Pistons be Stopped? I don't think so. 64 wins (a team record) and I don't see anyone other then San Antonio that is a threat to them.

When playoff time comes, Ben Wallace's poor free-throw shooting will get the best of Detroit. Not to say they will suffer an early exit, but that's what eventually will knock them out. I think their 2nd round match-up with Cleveland will be too much for them to handle.
Sunderland relegated after "best result of the season." EPL bottom team Sunderland held 2nd-placed Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford today, dealing a terrible blow to Man U's chances of catching leaders and defending champs Chelsea. Be that as it may, the result was worse for Sunderland. The Black Cats were relegated, trailing 16 points behind second-last West Bromwich Albion with five matches (and 15 maximum points) to go.

No Stuporsonics in Seattle? Has moving sports teams become the thing to do? And Loria isn't even involved in this. As for Stern...

Canucks lose again, miss playoffs In two magical back-to-back nights, Joe Thornton took a share of the NHL scoring lead, just about singlehandedly set the Western Conference's playoff field and ended the Vancouver Canucks' post-season hopes.

Damon Hits Fan, Hits Dinger After losing his bat and smacking a fan, Johnny Damon hits his first homer as a Yankee, then receives a curtain call from Yanks fans. A curtain call? For hitting an insurance homer in the eighth inning of a 6-2 game? Against the Royals? I sincerely hope the curtain call doesn't become as trite and annoying as Freddie Mitchell celebrating a six-yard first down catch in the second quarter.

There is no player more deserving of the MVP this year then Kobe Bryant. I can't even add to anything that's already been said about Kobe mentioned in the comments prior to mine. You obviously have to know a lot about sports to participate in our discussions, and by far the most to back any one player has been said about KOBE. I rest my case. If he doesn't get it this year, I'd love to publically hang the voters that don't give him their say!!!!!!!!
Back to Basketball... who's the MVP? "The winner will be announced in late April or early May. Results will be leaked a day or two before the announcement, which will be made just before the winner's team plays a home playoff game on national TV."

Kobe may have a Robin, but LBJ has Ilgauskas who's an all-star, and a center who demands major attention which makes it much easier for Lebron to work in the lane. Kobe doesn't. Cavs also have Larry Hughes who's a former all-star, and still a good player, and most importantly in my mind they have a proven point guard in Eric Snow who knows how to run an offense very well. Lakers have no such luxury in having anything close to a point guard. The closest they've got is Robin(LAMAR ODOM) and he plays a different position. Over all the CAVS have better talent on the team then the LAKERS, and that is why they are having the better season. I can't argue that Lebron is a great player and is having his best season so far, but I think we're all so spoiled by Kobe's performances that we tend to forget about just how great he is. Also, I don't think that Lebron could do as well if he had as much pressure as Kobe does to produce points.
I have no problem with Petty's opinion. Judging by what's happened up until now, he's absolutely correct about women not being able to consistantly be competitive in a field of pros.
