The ultimate rewards of alleged steroid abuse.

Maybe that's the sort of linkage that the NHL wants.

A picture paints a thousand words...

wow--note the copy right date

I gotta gets me some of those steroids.

I don't think it's the steriods. It might be the ultra thick wallet, or the fame - but after tens of millions, does she really care how big his arms are? I'm leaning towards no. What's that? Jaded you say? Ah, you're right it's true wuv.

Stephanie McGwire (nee Slemer) is the younger sister of a fellow from my high school. I didn't know her, although I did do the TV broadcasts of a couple of her high-school basketball gmes. Her brother (Dave Slemer, an all-state infielder) is a genuinely good guy that came through the program a few years after me. The family is upper middle class and nice as all get-out. As far as I can tell, this really was just two people meeting and hitting it off. Here's a little more info, although the part about her parents not being sports fans is weird.

wow--note the copy right date Yeah, copyright 2005. It *is* 2005 right now isn't it? Isn't it?! Oh man, it's happening all over again!

This has very little to do with steroids. It's about an All-American Boy making good (which he did long before any shenanigans came into play), hitting lots of homers and finding someone in his social circle to spend a few decades with. It makes all the sense in the world. They both seem to have made out okay, and you know, McGwire is not exactly a hideous dog, muscles aside. (Also: *sigh*)

Chico, I . your sigh. Tall, athletic, beautiful and Australian is pretty much unbeatable. She's probably got the brains too but I just haven't heard her speak yet.

Jesus, I took steroids for 6 months last year, thank Christ I didn't end up with a skinny bird growing out of my lap. Scary.

Big Mac, no matter what he did or didn't do, still had to be able to keep his eye on the ball. Just like Rodriguez, Bonds, Griffey, Salmon, Jeter or anyone else who played the game. Perhaps he became stronger, but for those of you who never played the game after high school, in college and in the minor leagues, the ball actually DOES get to the plate faster. In the majors, it is faster still. Don't be a player hater.

You know who I hate? Players. The lot of 'em. Especially the ones that make the ball go faster.
