Okay, this takes sports pools to a whole new level. We aren't competing based on performance, but based on the whims of someones decision. What's next? A pool based on election results? I'm not entering because I haven't got a clue who is going to be drafted except for that kid with the huge Nike contract...Delron James? James Delron? Lebron James! That's it!

I plan on attending the draft. If Lebron is taken first overall, I hear his mother will be giving Hummers to the crowd.

We should have done this for the NFL draft, which I know something about, not this where I know the top three names and that's about it. Not that foreigners are bad, I'm surely not xenophobic (well, maybe Xenaphobic) but just seems really hard to know much about them compared to football where I've watched and read about all the top picks for some time at least.

Oh come on, it's easy! Just pick lots of names that you can't pronouce and a few that you can.

Okay, I'm in. I know nothing but I couldn't resist.

I'll paypal $20 USD to the winner.

...if 12 or more people sign up.

Okay, I'm in. Just inserted names at random (after the first three, which I've heard of before). Seriously. I have no idea what teams need what positions, so it's probably the dumbest guess on the board. And if I win the money, donate it to your local charity of choice, corpse.

I'm clueless myself, but giving it a shot.

I hear that Michael Jordan guy is a real prospect!

i think i have a good chance at picking the first 3 picks correctly. after that...

Wasn't Darko the name of the little flying guy on "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe?"

If I win I want the money - I need it to frame the 8 x 10 of Craig Stadler's gut I won in the Annika Sorenstam contest - and I'm still waiting for it, wfrazerjr.

I'm so in.

i mostly guessed. The real bonus should be if you can guess who is going to trade up to where - I bet the Blazers end up with the #2 or #3 pick, for instance.

Certainly not the 2, and probably not the 3. Perhaps they could wrangle the 4th from Toronto...

From the "what the hell do I know department", the 3 seems to be on the block but not with the jailblazers From ESPN Insider: The Nuggets said it would take a knock-your-socks-off offer to trade their No. 3 pick in the draft. They may have gotten one on Wednesday. Several NBA sources claim that the Kings are willing to part with all-star Peja Stojakovic and super sub Bobby Jackson for the No. 3 pick, Marcus Camby and Ryan Bowen. The Kings obviously would take Carmelo Anthony with the No. 3 pick. Camby would give them another big man who could spell Vlade Divac and Chris Webber if he ever got healthy. Why would the Nuggets pull the trigger on the deal? They would immediately get better with the addition of Stojakovic and Jackson. Remember, they'd still have roughly 18 million worth of cap room to spend on a couple of free agents, and some in the organization feel they need a few more established players to lure the best free agents.

Oh, we need 3 more people if you kids want the cash prize. I'll get jenny to sign up, so 2 more probably.

Okay, I entered. What an annoying site, though!

Paval pulled out of the draft, change you picks accordingly.

In. Just one more needed now.

"7-foot-5, 300-pound[s]" and 18 years old? Holy mierde!

that proposed nuggets trade sound decent for them. getting rid of camby and picking up two solid players that can help them immediately. hmmm.

Okay, okay, I'm in. If I win you'd better not welsh on my $20 just because I live with you.

What do we do to replace all the players that pulled out? I can't seem to substitute other names.

Bill, log in there again and click on the link that says "Edit my picks". To the right of the java applet, there will be a link for the HTML version. I believe that will work for you.

I think Toronto's going to deal the No. 4 pick and that's going to mess everythng up.

Tonight we will finally get the answer we've all awaited with baited breath... how bad is billsaysthis at forecasting the NBA draft.

I think Toronto's going to deal the No. 4 pick and that's going to mess everythng up. ...if you put any thought into your draft order. But I didn't, so draft away! If I get more than 3 right (or finish in the top 50% of the league), I'm going to go out and buy a bunch of lottery tickets for Friday night.

I actually DID put some thought into this ... which means it'll probably end up with me finishing dead last, like in the NCAA brackets.

My picks are FUCKED.

Wade going at five probably fucked a lot of people. I hate cookies so I can't check my lovely prognostication--somebody want to let me know how bad it was after the massacre ends?

I don't think I've got a single one right after the top 4. I expected more internationals to go higher.

Woohoo!

my geekrmetric attempt failed horribly. i looked at 15 different mock drafts (from websites that may have had reason to do them, not random board posters), compiled them, and then figured out what the most likely person at each slot would be. conclusion - that approach sucks. though, with the exception of lampe, all of my picks did get me a least a point so they were all wrong but not super wrong. blah.

Congratulations mbd1, you win a brand spanking new $20. Email me at the address in my profile for information on claiming your prize. Sad that I didn't win, but it's nice that a former Dukie won.

corpse - How about a donation to the V Foundation for Cancer Research if it's ok with you.

Done, and I kicked it up to $25. You can have the Jimmy V pin that I am supposed to get too, if you want, just email me your snail mail address.

All hail our new mbd1 overlord! Pancakes for all!
