Real Madrid sack coach Queiroz: Real Madrid have sacked coach Carlos Queiroz after a disappointing season and appointed former Spain national coach Jose Antonio Camacho to replace him.

I was surprised to hear that they finished fourth I was surprised to hear that they finished fourth and have to qualify for the Champions League next season. I knew they weren't winning the league but I didn't think they slid down to 4th. Well, it is probably "good for football" that they don't win anything one in a while. a little chuckle at the phrasing in your posting there babuchutkan

Look, we all knew before the season that defensively, Real would have problems. It's not hindsight to say that 4th place was entirely predictable. Queiroz is just the fall guy. The real fault lies with Perez, who introduced the flawed "Zidanes and Pavones" strategy. and Valdano, who implemented it. If I were a top coach, I wouldn't touch the job with a bargepole while those two clowns are still there calling the shots.

Queiroz had a big hole in defense and that was the undoing. First thing they do at the end of this season is sign a top defender from AS Roma but does the guy get a chance to prove himself? No. Stupid fecking executives.

The irony is that Ferguson recruited Queiroz because of his ability to organise a defence. I wouldn't be surprised to see him return to Old Trafford, he has never really been replaced. I am really glad that Real have royally fucked up, and I hope the Russian gangster in West London has taken note that it doesn't matter how greedy you are, it takes more than money to build a football team.

If you manage Real Madrid, you have to win something every year. It's as simple as that.
