WuChess: Where hip-hop meets chess. Like the Wu-Tang Clan? Like Chess? Awwww yeah - this is the site for you. Play live chess with people from all over the world and get your learn on. WuChess.com lets you get knowledge from REAL chess masters online, or train in chambers against the computer to refine your skills. Create your own chess clans to see who can build the highest ranking. Play in tournaments for prizes, or just for the joy of flexin' ya mentals. They also donate part of their revenues to Hip-Hop Chess Federation ("Using chess, music and martial arts to promote unity, strategy and non-violence). Now you can be a Grand Master in rap, chess and kung-fu. This is too cool.

Interesting. I'd sign up for kicks, but there's no way I'm shelling out $48 to do so.

That is awesome! Despite largely despising rap I've always had a soft spot for the Wu Tang (mainly due to the "Triumph" video)... And now that's mixed with my love for chess. (I am horrendous at the game, but love it nonetheless.) Wow... Just... Wow.

This is the best of both worlds. The Wu are by far the best of all hip hop groups to have ever collaborated and to share their love of chess to the masses is an even better contribution to all who love the game of chess. Now, if only Bobby Fisher was still alive, maybe he could kick a freestle with the RZA.

Half my life ago, literally, there was no Sportsfilter, or YouTube or much of an internet to speak of. I was 14 freaking years old. But there was the Wu. And the Da Mystery of Chessboxin. Is this authenticated, though? I mean, is the RZA seeing money from this, or is it just some kind of co-opted money-making scheme on the interwebs? 'Cos nobody's ever heard of that.

I actually found out about this on Valleywag. WuChess is a collaboration between WTC and ChessPark, "a chess-centric social network." Check out the video at the end of the article; shows a chess tourney in SF organized by Hip-Hop Chess Federation -- looks like the RZA beat the Monk for the championship.

Peace to all the crooks, all the niggaz with bad looks. Bald heads, braids, blow this hook

I wonder.. If I play and win will they sew my a$$hole shut and keep feeding me and feeding me and feeding me........

Awesome, just awesome. Any hook to keep people interested in chess is a good one!

The game of chess, is like a swordfight You must think first, before you move Toad style is immensely strong, and immune to nearly any weapon When it's properly used, it's almost invincible I just can't get over this. Wu Tang and Chess... It's a dessert topping AND a furniture polish.

I have to say I am leaning toward joining Blarp on this one. I was already to go sign up, and even recruit... Of course THEN I find out about the 48 bucks... It would be different if you KNOW where this money is headed but... If it's going into something like bringing chess to the "hood" then I'm all for it. If it's going to but some new bling for someone like O.D.B... well I'll pass

emancipated and Ufez, it should be obvious (whether they say it or not) that WTC get some money, and so does ChessPark, who're doing the heavy-lifting. CP brings the ball and court, WTC brings the game. And part of the proceeds also goes to the Hip-Hop Chess Federation (which they do say on the site).

The LA Times has the same reservations as you guys re: the price of entry, and is looking into the membership experience. Washington Post points out ChessPark also has a free alternative (but no hip-hop videos or MP3s, which are included with the WuChess membership). But, no info on the revenue share, or how much WTC makes .
