ESPN.com reports Paul Konerko not signing with the Boston Red Sox I mean, Konerko signing with the Chicago White Sox for $60 million over 5 years. And so the market grows thinner.

In related news, Frank Thomas will be wearing actual colors next year.

Like, in a gang?

I was sitting at the bar at the Inn Of The Hills when ESPN mentioned the $60 million for 5 years. The guy next to me thought a minute then said, "I thought he would get more than $8 million per year". The sad part is, he was sober at the time. Anyway, it gave me a good laugh.

Best news of the day - the White Sox wouldn't be the same without Paulie...

That's a lot of money. I'm glad for Konerko. It's good to see success doesn't always go straight to someone's head and make him think he needs to go elsewhere, especially after they got Thome, too. Hopefully he keeps producing.

Providence College, represent! Now it's time for Lou Merloni to get a payday.

Lou Merloni'd be lucky to get an Oh Henry!

Oh, and I suppose you've a clever comment to make about John McDonald too, Friar-hater?

i don't get it. help?

Trust me,dyams,Thome is a stiff.

I never felt that Konerko would leave the White Sox. Trading for Thome was a good deall as I dont think that Thome is done yet. The Big Hurt is as good as gone. He may wind up almost anywhere... The White Sox are not going to repeat next year, but it won't be because of Konerko and Thome. That pitching staff wont be able to repeat what it did this past season...

i don't get it. help? Konerko, Merloni and John McDonald are the last Providence College Friars to play in the MLB as PC closed the baseball program not long after they graduated.

Man don't be McJankin' on McDonalds. I like McDouble McCheese McBurgers. So shut up before I McKick your McAss.

I'm not so big on the Thome deal - I thought Rowland was a hard-nosed, great glove guy with some pop. Thome very well cood just replace Frank Thomas as the 'Giant contract sitting in the clubhouse or at the end of the bench.' Konerko is solid gold though. This deal, by comparison to others (and not that I ever really care how much money these guys are making) is good.
