"I'm an athlete, I can walk up the stairs": or so thought rookie sensation Clint Barmes. He's out for 3 months, with a broken clavicle. No word about the state of his groceries.

Ach. Thanks for the post, qbert. I've got Barnes on my (non SpoFi) Fantasy Squad. He started the season amazingly, but kind of fell off recently. His 10 errors have hurt me too. Hmm. Off to find a new 2B.

Ditto, Ufez. Oh and I guess it also sucks for him.

The injury's described as devastating news for the Rockies. I lived briefly in Denver and am a big believer in Coors Field, but they were already a cellar dweller. How much more devastated could the Rockies be?

I remember, back when there was hockey, Patrick Lalime hurt his back taking groceries out of his trunk in the last week of the season. This cannot be a coincidence.

Score it: E-6.

"Also, the Rockies lost catcher Todd Greene, who tripped just before reaching home plate on his home run trot Sunday against the Reds, injuring his hamstring..." The fates have clearly conspired against them.
