Fines are out - 15 yard penalties are in.: The "don't call us the No Fun League" decides that hitting players in their pocketbooks was not the best way to discourage excessive celebration.

I don't get why the NFL is going apeshit over a couple of dorky end-zone celebrations that will be part of their licensed videogames next season. Now that the salary cap has replaced dynasties with mundane Super Bowl teams like the Patriots and Panthers, the league needs all the marketing help it can get.

I like the idea, if I never see another end zone celebration it will be too early. or another dynasty.

I'm sorry corpse, but I still get a big grin on my face when I think of Joe Horn making a call on a cell phone. Of course it's totally immature, but I've always felt following sports appeals to the adolescent in us.

I've always felt following sports appeals to the adolescent in us. Agreed, which also explains a lot. Boo to Tagliabue!

while it shouldn't necessarily be encouraged i think it certainly piques the interest of a casual fan when some player's ego gets the best of them on the field. That Terrell Owens sharpie incident was a classic. If he has an attitude and can back it up on the field then fine with me. If the opposing players want to knock him senseless (within the rules) because of his attitude and showboating then I am all for that too.

Sorry but I still subscribe to the "When you get to the endzone act like you've been there before" rule. There is no "i" in team and all that. I hope the next guy who pulls a stunt like Horn or Owens gets his ass kicked by his team mates after their antics cost them yardage (or a game). However, if there was a rule that gave an opposing team the option of smacking a showboater within say 1 minute of their stupid actions--without penalty--then I am all for it ;)

Though I hate the Cowboys, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for George Teague, who cold-cocked T. Owens as he stood on the Texas Stadium star.

You guys just want to turn the NFL into another hockey league!

That Teague-Owens situation shows exactly why the NFL should allow some of this stuff. It made a dull 49ers-Cowboys game between two bad teams one of the most memorable they have ever played against each other.
