"The guy [McGrady] was expressionless after I asked him something, or he was two seconds away from hitting me. I couldn't tell. I'm hoping Tracy takes it with a sense of humor.": Tracy McGrady asserts that 5% of the NBA is gay in Stuff Magazine. ( I don't read it so it doesn't get a link.) Why 5%? Isn't that kind of a round (read arbitrary) number? That would basically mean that the 12th and sometimes 11th man on your favorite team's roster is gay. We've discussed gay atheletes ad infinitum. What's interesting to me is that McGrady puts it out there and then refuses to discuss anything else about the issue. Was this a lark? Anyone have a read on this, an aside or enlightening anecdote?

McGrady said he has witnessed incidents of homosexual behavior in the league. Was a foul called?

It's actually pretty cool of him to not 'out' anyone...The admission is enough in itself. Magic and Raptor teammates look out....the magnifying glass is now pointed at you. on preview: not sure, but it was a post move.

McGrady said he has witnessed incidents of homosexual behavior in the league. Maybe he's counting all those times when he had two or more chicks and they would...uhh...ignore him for a moment.

I'm hoping Tracy takes it with a sense of humor. What the fuck does that mean? If McGrady actually said it, why would the writer need to worry about what TMac will think later? I'm just hoping this is not another one of those deals where within three days, no one can agree on what was said in the interview. As for the witnessing of gay behavior ... hell, that's the Timberwolves in the postseason every year.

Mebbe Tracy isn't witnessing homosexual behavior so much as metrosexual tendencies. To be fair I read of "metrosexuality" on birdhouse, which in turn got it from Salon(usual ads, reg. sometimes req'd, bad flash). Be forewarned soccer fans, in each and every article Beckham is foisted upon us as the poster-child for the pussification of "real men". Or the sublimation of "real men" who like frilly outfits and getting their nails done. Could this explain some of the "allegedly gay atheletes" we keep hearing about?

Yeah, maybe Tracy witnessed a few teammates drinking mineral water.

Maybe Tracy is the gay guy, and he knows firsthand. Think about that for awhile.

a league wide consideration would be more like the 12th guy on every 2nd team. (1/24 is just over 4%) or, given the roster changes, probably at some point your team's roster would hit 20 players used in a year and then 1 in 20 of those guys... witnessed incidents of homosexual behavior. Yeah, that could sell some papers. it think the stat he quotes is nothing that you wouldn't guess.

Let's put it this way: for a group of men where the norm is to hang out with each other naked in locker rooms just about every day of the year, McGrady must have some pretty serious (albeit anecdotal) "evidence" to make an allegation like that.

Good - I hope he's right. America needs a new media image of the 6"9" muscluar black man. Even if ii is only 5%. I hope McGrady is specifically talking about Charles Oakley though. That's be great.

Or even Charles Barkley, right Weedy?

The amphibious Charles Shackleford?

HA! Both Barkley and Oakley - that'd kick ass. Or kiss it - depending on your particular proclivities.

Or perhaps Tracy McGrady had an awkward incident with Scottie Pippen and his homosexual tendencies... for those who don't know, I refer to allegations that Pippen entered into homosexual relationships while in college...

[silly] Slap a man's ass in public, get your face caved in. Slap a man's ass in public DURING A SPORT, nobody cares. Kiss a man on the cheek in public, get pummelled. Kiss a man on the cheek AFTER HE SCORES A GOAL, nobody cares. I'm surprised there aren't more gay men in sports... [/silly]
