Sad news for Red Sox fans, especially those of us from Portsmouth, RI: former Sox prospect Ryan Westmoreland, once Baseball America's #21 prospect in all of baseball, announced his retirement after a series of setbacks resulting from brain surgeries to correct a cavernous malformation in his brain.

As I read the above post on Westmoreland, they were showing his statement concerning retirement. I must say that this is a young man with hois attitude in the right place. He won't play professional baseball, but I will bet he is a success in whatever he decides to do.

Frankly, I consider this rank optimism. Two outcomes in which the world is not brought to an end by the introduction of the designated hitter to the National League? Ridiculous.
