CFL Pick 'Em, Week 17: Threes rule the day, so if you picked any spreads between two and four, crack open a can of '67 and wince your way to the top. Do what you gotta do and make your picks inside.

Everybody wins by three: Edmonton, Montreal, and B.C.. But not in Calgary. Nobody wins in Calgary.

Margin of Error2 to 40 to 02 to 42 to 4

MrFrisby nails the Edmonton spread to close to within one point of j5v, while apoch puts together four points of his own to keep the third-place race interesting.

Nothing is settled in the West as all four teams are separated by only three points.

WEEK 17

Hamilton @ Toronto (Friday, October 23) Toronto is done, but Hamilton's fighting to avoid being crossed over. The Ti-Cats have more to play for, but they're stuck in a tough four-game losing streak.

Edmonton @ Calgary (Friday, October 23) Calgary's still got a piece of the division lead, but have been struggling with consistency. And a win would put the Eskimoes within a point of the Stamps.

Montreal @ Winnipeg (Saturday, October 24) Montreal's QB and MVP Anthony Calvillo left last week's game early with tightening in his calf. Does Montreal do the smart thing and rest him? That's really the only way Winnipeg can hope to win.

B.C. @ Saskatchewan (Saturday, October 24) Saskatchewan has to be the favourite at home, but B.C.'s been playing a scrappy sort of ball to stay very much in contention, and could definitely be a sexy underdog pick.

Good luck!

Damn that stupid fortune teller. Only 2 points last week. Teach me to trust some bald celibate dude with an orange robe. Toronto by 11. Probably a Denver Broncos fan, anyway. Edmonton by 3. In contrast, this week's tips are supplied by the local military commander, with whom I had lunch last Friday. Montreal by 17. We talked about drug smuggling, spying, nuclear secrets and the chances of the Rough Riders. BC by 5. As you do.

Schultzie thinks this week is going to play out like this:

Hamilton adds to the Argo misery and wins by 5. Calgary takes it by 10. Montreal ekes one out by 2. And then Saskatchewan defends home turf by 10 points.

I know KG had a stellar week last week to lead the Ticats to a win, but I'm gonna need an upset or two this week if I'm gonna make up any ground on all y'all whatsoever. And, in reality, I do think that Toronto might be ready to put one in the W column. They got the no-passing-TDs monkey off their backs last week. And I am ever-faithful that pro athletes, no matter how bad the record, don't just "mail it in" as the season winds down. If there's a team to get up for, it's their rival Tabbies. Toronto by 4.

Speaking of upsets, this Battle of Alberta also has the makings for a real possibility. The Double E have looked bad offensively as of late, but at some point, they're gonna click again. Stamps were just in a gunslinger battle last week. And while they're motivated to peak as they are set to host the Grey Cup ... the Esks are battling for their playoff lives. Of course, betting with my heart instead of my head usually bites me in the ass, but this week I've GOTTA go with the Green & Gold! Edmonton by 7.

Uh oh ... now that I've got on the "pick some upsets" groove, would I dare pick the Bombers to do it to the Als? While I won't put it out of the realm of possibility, I do think that the Als are a better football club, even if they rest some of their starters. Frankly, it's long overdue for some of those guys to take a breather (ya hear me, AC?). It could be a close one if they do though ... but close to the Als means something different than close to other squads. Montreal by 13.

This is how the west was won. An EE win in Calgary this week, and a Rider win over the Lions ... Riders win the west, and the Lions finish last. Still a couple games to play that could affect this, but that's my prediction right now anyway ... and probably not far off from the one that started this season. Yeah, Saskatchewan wins this one by 7.
