CFL Pick 'Em, Week 2: The kickoffs have been, well, kicked off, and it feels so good. Rookie luck is on display as newcomers crowd the top spot. Find out how you fared, and then make your picks inside.

Back to business! Toronto steals a page from the American playbook and puts a running game in the mix for the first time in what seems like decades. Montreal wins a wild one out west. Edmonton needs a procedure call and a kicker freeze to squeak out the win at home, but they'll take it. Over in Saskatchewan, defence is on display, with the Riders hanging on in the battle of turnover attrition.

Rookie luck is on display in our standings. rahilsuleman nails the Toronto game and hits two other margins for a very impressive eight-point week. Close behind him is Mave with a solid five. Schultzie, on the other hand, has had better days.

As luck would have it, the matchups this week all feature either unbeaten teams or winless teams. No gimmes yet!

WEEK 2

Edmonton @ Montreal (Thursday, July 9) Montreal has some work to do, especially on special teams, but there's no way they're not the favourite heading back into the friendly confines of Molson Stadium.

Calgary @ Winnipeg (Friday, July 10) Calgary was one fumble away from a win last week, so we have to give them the edge on the road. Everything depends on the Manitoba mosquitos, though.

Hamilton @ BC (Friday, July 10) Fortunately for pick 'em players, Hamilton looked just as lost last week as they have all season, and B.C. Place is a tough carpet to visit.

Saskatchewan @ Toronto (Saturday, July 11) Is Toronto for real this season? Having Saskatchewan in town is an excellent way to find out.

Good luck!

A guy walks into a bar. Edmonton by 12. He has a huge steering wheel sticking out of the front of his trousers. Calgary by 7. The barman says "Hey, is that annoying?" BC by 15. The guy replies "It's driving me nuts." Toronto by 3.

The only "lines" I know are the ones posted by SportSelect.

Montreal -6.5 Calgary -5.5 BC -13.5 Toronto -2.5

Apparently Perry Lefko knows the spreads too, because he actually went out on a limb and started pickin' with it in mind. He's got:

Montreal covers, Calgary by 10 at least (cover), BC to win and cover, and Toronto to win by the field goal margin.

SCHULTZIE on the other hand ... he's ballsy like all of us and puts points on the line.

Montreal by 12 Calgary by 21 BC by 13 Toronto by 3

And what about li'l ol' me? After a brutal effort last week, I'm ready to nail a few this week. So here goes:

Montreal may be good, but they're facing a Richie Hall-inspired defence now. The gambler in me says they don't cover for sure, but the SpoFi picker in me calls upset (maybe the EE Superfan thrown in there a bit too). EE in a nail-biter by 2.

They won't go down two weeks in a row. Winnipeg was better than expected in the season opener last week, but reality will soon set in for both teams ... Calgary will be better, Winnie only worse. Still, I thought they'd be bigger than 5.5 point favourites ... Calgary by 12

I didn't get to watch the Tor-Ham game last week, but from the highlights, etc. they had shown some signs of promise. I don't think they're the league's worst this year ... and BC is not in the hunt either. This'll be closer than expected, even with the easterners having to adjust to Pacific time ... BC by 4.

Yeah, everyone says they look pretty good, but the Riders are no pushover. Think Joseph is still haunted a bit by Rider Pride ... I'll take the Riders by 8.

OUCH! Blinded by my faith in the Double E once again. Same pattern as a couple of years ago ... betting with my heart, not with my head. You think one day I'd learn???
