I'm in. I'm always in. But don't forget the overseas postage, if people are on a budget.

Thanks, owlhouse. I got your info.

For those unfamiliar with the swap:

The idea is to provide your fellow spofites with your favorite genre, band, or artist by burning your mix on a few discs, then you will mail the cds to the members of your group (last year it was 4 or 5). In turn, you will receive a copy of their favorites. Keep in mind that not all of spofi is in the US, there are members from Australia, England and even as far away as Canada. So plan on spending a few bucks per cd to ship. (I sent to Australia last year and I don't remember any significant increase in postage.)

CD disc art, cover art, content and mix length are entirely up to you. Try to include some local music and/or obscure favorites along with your favorite mainstream choices. Be Creative!!

The only rule of CD Swap is don't talk about...wait, I mean, the only rule of CD Swap is, if you sign up and you are placed in a group...Please follow through with sending your copies!! If you do sign up and decide not to be involved, email me (at the addy above) and I can fill the spot for the group.

If you need ideas or you want to tailor your cd to the tastes of your group, terrapin started a Sportsfilter group on Last.fm. (Details for that group can be found on the sidelines on the front page.)

Also, I know there is a collective song list from many of the mixes sent in the past. If any of you can post a link, that would be appreciated.

Don't be afraid to sign up people. I can't do it this time so nobody will be receiving Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" at double speed. Well, at least not from me.

Some of the lyrics take a twisted lyric when imagining Alvin and the Chipmunks singing it. "I hope my boyfriend don't mind it." hahaha.

I never did send out any cd's last time, but I never received any either. Of course, I did say that I was moving and nobody should send me a CD until they have my new address. After digging through my email for an hour though, I see that it was lil_brown_bat, qbert72, and Ufez. I did put a playlist together though and will send it to them if they are still interested. Just let me know if the addresses I have from last year are still valid and will send them out ASAP.

Shit, at double speed I can fit twice as many songs this year. Cool.

BoKnows, when I was playing around with it last year, I discovered that 150% speed works a lot better than 200% speed for most songs. Some sound good at 175% and even fewer actually sounded good at 200%.

Cool, thanks for the trial and error. You have saved me even more time.

I'll give this thing a whirl. Just dropped you the e-mail, Bo.

Okay folks, we have at least one solid group so far. Still seem to be short some of the usual suspects.

I can tell you that the CD's I got last year are still in rotation in my truck and I couldn't wait for 2009 to come in order to do this again.

And owlhouse, this year, I'll make a more neighbor-friendly mix.

I just don't have the time right now. If I were to sign up, my group members would be bummed at me.

I'm in, but I refuse to be on time. I'll drop you an email this weekend, Bo.

I'm in the same boat as NoMich. School is kicking my ass (no coincidence that I've been active the last few weeks - winter break!) Got some great stuff last year, though, and would encourage any fence-sitters to join up. There's just too much good stuff out there to be discovered!

p.s. did Katy Perry ever give any acknowledgment to Jill Soubule for ripping her song off?

I milked a goat and I liieeeked it!

YoBo, I'll send you what I have from last years swap asap. If there's a need for one more I'll go again, the muzic I have received the last three years has been fantastic. I'll second tahoemoj, there is just so much stuff out there that getting copies of what others listen too increases my collection with some really cool shit.

With over 10,000 songs if anyone is looking for something in particular (Jill Soubule solo version of "I Kissed a Girl" recorded live at 105.9 L.A. anybody? [j/k]) Also I am looking for any live shows (any band/artist) anybody? And yea like the name Folk/Rock, is my fav.

OK maybe TMI but I love goats milk!

(not really)

Folkways, I was hoping you'd come around. The sign-ups have been pretty slow. I'd really like to include you, that would get us to two pretty solid groups. Let me know via email if you're willing.

CORRECTIONS --- The Jill Sobule is from KSCA LIVE FROM THE MUSIC HALL vol. 2, FM 101.9 LA.
