CFL Pick 'Em, Week 8: SpoFi is back and so is the CFL. Well, technically the CFL never left, although I'm having a continuing debate with the commissioner's office about that. Make your picks inside.

I made several calls to the commissioner's office over the past week, but despite SpoFi being down for server upgrades, the league insisted on playing the games anyway. Our loss is Hamilton's gain, as Winnipeg takes over as the league's doormat. Also, B.C. lost, for the first time in a REALLY FREAKING LONG TIME.

Also, apologies for the table being super-huge. It will probably be back to normal once Kirk fixes up the stylesheets.

The good news is that our backup plan allowed almost the entire pool to make their picks. The bad news is that we still missed a couple of players. HATER, YYM, THX, and Anaconda, please accept my apologies for not getting the backup plan in place and advertised a little sooner. At the very least, it was a pretty low-scoring week, and heck, one of you is still in first place.

It's bye week! Unfortunately, the good division gets the week off, so we're left with what are essentially the league's dregs at the moment.

WEEK 8

Hamilton @ Winnipeg (Thursday, August 14)
Hamilton has shown that it can't beat anyone except Toronto, and Winnipeg just can't beat anybody. This is going to be a tough one to watch, and even tougher to pick.

Montreal @ Toronto (Friday, August 15)
Toronto has been showing sparks of life, but only before halftime, having scored only eight second-half points over the past three weeks. Montreal, on the other hand, is looking like the complete-game player it's tended to be.

Good luck!

A note about the rankings for Week 6: I have the spreadsheet put together, and will post a table in TBH's thread later this week. I wanted to get the up-to-date table up ASAP.

As always, please double-check your picks. Doubly so this week, since I was pulling them from multiple sources. Thanks!

You're right, Dr. J - strangely enough, when you're dealing with the league's bottom of the barrel teams, it's a lot harder to fine someone - anyone - who stands out.

Here goes...

Again - you gotta believe...

I've been reading in about something called 'nominative determinism'. It's basically that the name you are given will affect the kind of profession or activity that you enter. Winnipeg by 12. Like having 'Mr Cutts' as your butcher or 'Doctor Leak' as your urologist. Montreal by 12. I notice that Swimming Canada uses the same principle in team selection for the Beijing Olympics. Hello there, Keith Beaver.

Welcome back, Weedy! We've still got more than half the season to go, so make sure you make some picks and play for fun if not the Costanza ;)
