Is spofi ailing? Is it just me or is anyone else seeing many many many "connection failed"s lately?

Comments

I couldn't access it at all on the 4th (at any computer) -- I just figured that sportsfi went on holiday.

Yeah, the site's been wonky most of the weekend for me.

Same here, and like Monica I couldn't get on during the 4th either.

twitter.com twitter.com I was out of town and couldn't write to several people who wrote me about the downtime. Sorry.

Everyone deserves a holiday, even SpoFi. Thanks gary. Also, big thanks for the sidebar mention of the CFL pick 'em, just noticed it today!

No big deal, gary -- just wanted to know if it was something at my end. It's been wicked reliable so this kind of stuck out.

I was one that emailed Gary as well. No problem, I thought it was my system.

We're having a problem on the hosting end, and when it happens I'm not able to connect to the box and fix it. I'm still trying to figure out what's causing the crashes. Incidentally, we may be shopping for a new host. I didn't know, until it was too late, that our current provider doesn't have tech support working on holidays.

Thanks for the updates. I am not a big fan of Twitter, and I only occasionally remember to turn it on. I appreciate the effort, but is there any way the wiki can be updated (justgary?) when a known outage is discovered?

I am not a big fan of Twitter, and I only occasionally remember to turn it on. Yeah, I just used twitter bc I could get to it from my phone while I was out of town. But the wiki would be perfect for this, especially in the case of extended downtime. Do we have a place for this already set up? Again I'm away from a computer. I'll check when I get home.

Maybe we could republish the Twitter status feed on the Wiki? That way the feed remains updatable from everywhere, but readers can use the Wiki to see it.

Ohh, that's an excellent idea.

I've got PHP code that displays Twitter items on another site. I will document it on my blog this afternoon. Any significant SportsFilter outage will be covered on my blog and probably Gary's as well.

Here's the PHP script. Is there a way to include HTML that's dynamically updated on a MediaWiki page?

I'm not a MediaWiki expert, so I'm not sure what the best way to set that up would be, but if nothing else works, an iframe would do the trick.

I had trouble getting on earlier this morning as well.

I had trouble getting on earlier this morning as well. So many jokes that are best left unsaid. Anyway, such sad news. Eat some chicken soup, SpoFi, and get well soon.

I'm getting the "unable to connect" error a lot too. I couldn't get the site to open this week at all untill Wednesday afternoon.

Problems continue. Every morning it seems like the server is down. I'm working on it with the host.

SpoFi hasn't been working for me this past couple of days either.

The last time Spofi was this wonky, there was the "Great Post Purge".

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Grand Update.

Woot! Finally able to log on this morning at work. It's been a long week!

Um, I don't know what's going on , but my link to: www.xkcd.com somehow became: www.sportsfilter.com

Problems continue. Every morning it seems like the server is down. I'm working on it with the host. What is it with the service these days? I mean, I order the plomeek soup al fresco and instead it comes with obviously canned chin ah kleb. I try to take it up with the host and all I get is attitude. Hey, how come the site has been so hard to log into lately?

THX, the McDonald's in your area must have a fantastic menu! At the one near me, the ketchup dispenser thingy has this huge glob of old ketchup all built up around the nozzle. So the new ketchup comes out real slow. I complained about that here. So, we're both doing our part. Keep up the good work. Hey, how come the site has been so hard to log into lately? Are you saying your McD's has WiFi? Now you're just bragging.
