NHL playoffs confidence pool update: by popular request, here is a link to the standings, after two rounds. More comments inside.

I'm entering results as they come in, maybe a day late here and there, so you can check your progress constantly. Not that there is much change going on. 80% of the games are played, and the top of the standings look pretty much set. Me, I'm waltzing between 23rd and 25th place. How exciting!

Detroit is KILLING me. I was doing so good at the start and then they had the nerve to start winning. 32 points. Geez.

By my unscientific observation, I believe qbert is correct that Tahoe has clinched this thing already. Congrats. My quick descent begins now. The only interest is in staying ahead of as many of the great hockey minds as possible. Go sweeps!

My new goal is to defeat my old nemesis, sk8r. Although my current score (666) is pretty
wicked-awesome.

Look at the Collective. I believe that this is its best performance in any confidence game.

The SpoFi Collective finished 3rd in the recent World Juniors confidence pool. We're bigger than the sum of our parts, apparently.

We're bigger than the sum of our parts, apparently. We'd surely be even bigger if "some" of those "parts" (like me) just departed.

Cue "Brass Bonanza." So now do I get, like, some kind of veto power in the hockey threads for the next year? In homage to the soup nazi, can I tell posters who displease me "NO POST FOR YOU. NEXT!!?" No? In that case, thanks to those involved in putting on the pool. It really is fun to have a sight like SpoFi to visit often, and having a game running just makes it more fun. Your work is greatly appreciated.

So now do I get, like, some kind of veto power in the hockey threads for the next year? How about just this thread. I'll get your veto stamp arm warmed up... Tahoe is overrated. I am pleased the Whalers left Hartford.

Tahoe you may be winning this pool, but the Wings are still in the playoffs. The same can't be said for the boys in New Jersey.

Ouch! The pain has not subsided yet, YYM, I still feel like I just lost my best friend.

Tahoe is overrated. I am pleased the Whalers left Hartford. Damn, tough crowd! Is this the part where I grin through my mouthguard and point at the scoreboard? Tahoe you may be winning this pool, but the Wings are still in the playoffs. The same can't be said for the boys in New Jersey. I know, I know. I take full responsibility for the shortcomings of the team for which I cheer. Just as you can credit your aggressive forecheck and stifling defense for the Wings success. Anybody else as excited to watch that Buffalo-Ottawa series as I am?

I am!

My new goal is to defeat my old nemesis, sk8r. "Come on, I'm sure the walls of the sk8r compound are practically caked with the lingering curses of the wingnut's name." Anybody else as excited to watch that Buffalo-Ottawa series as I am? I am too! I even bought a six-pack of good beer for tonight's game. "Always a good decision." I will probably even stop by the campfire.
