Tonight, at the SportsFilter Center...: Boston's FleetCenter offers single-day naming rights.

For $500? Hell, we could totally put that together. We get an MP3 of the phone answering service, Jumbotron footage, a sign or two... This is awesome. I also like the taking-the-piss aspect of it. It kind of makes a mockery of the whole arena-naming-rights thing. This is cool.

so the CEO of delaware north has a dog that likes to watch hockey. does he also watch paint dry? and grass grow? and dust collect? or worse yet, the NBA?

Put in my vote for the "curlyelkShouldKeepHisIgnorantAndUnproductiveOpinionsToHimselfCentre".

I'd put 5 large on "Former home of the Boston Bruins". I wonder if they'd go along with that? It's G-rated, right?

I don't think $500 will get it done, chico. It is a pretty cool idea, however, and I will be very interested to see what good, bad and tacky names come out in the next two weeks. For pure taking the piss on the whole naming rights thing, I bet you would very popular if you had the bucks to splash down for "Boston Garden".

Oh, sh*t. I'd pitch in for Boston Garden. I bet you could get a lot of people around here to do that...

For a short time after the Fleece Center went up, people were still referring to it as "the Garden", and I hoped that that would continue...but no. I say bring back the Garden.

I'd put up $5 to call it what I always thought of when I heard the former name: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Fleet Enema Center!"

I'll chip in for "The Steinbrenner Center" or "Yankees are still better center" or finally the "Bill Buckner Errordome"

mayerkyl: 'cept the Fleet Center/Boston Garden has never had anything to do with baseball. Apart from that, you're dead on.

What does "Fleet" have to do with basketball?
