I'm not a big Giant fan (living in MA that would be dangerous right now) but I have to admire what they did in the Super Bowl, and I am a big fan of Jerry Reese. In just one cycle, he's gotten awesome results with the draft. Sending him more draft picks to work with is just plain dangerous for the other teams in the NFC East. He'll get his money's worth out of those picks. With Reese picking the talent and the Giants becoming less dominated by personalities, they could be tough for a long time to come.
...and maybe we won't be the 'Aints again this year. If you are counting on Shockey to have even the least minor effect, read the general concenus of the comments above. I have been, and am still, at a loss as to when and why the media (or anyone for that matter) ordained Shockey as a 'difference maker'. Sure, he caught a few touchdowns and important first downs over his career in NY. In a primarily passing league that is your job as a TE. Is he even close to a Newsome or Gonzalez? I think not. I am not saying he was poor, just that NY won't miss him, and NO didn't land any real prize either. Go JS, prove me wrong.
Speaking as a Patriots fan, I only have two words to rebut what everyone is saying about Shockey: Randy Moss. The change of scenery did wonders for him and I think the same will be true with Shockey. Let's remember 2 things: 1. Shockey's best years were when Payton was the O Coordinator; 2. Brees LOVES throwing to his tight ends. Lest anyone forgets, Colston was actually listed as a tight end his rookie year and look at the out of character numbers Eric Johnson-ERIC JOHNSON- put up last year I think both Shockey an the Saints will be comfortable with one another, and Eli will have that ball monkey off his back as well, so it appears to me to be win-win-win. Don't be surprised to see a Saints-Cowboys NFC Championship. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Shockey + New Orleans = bonanza for Times-Picayune sportswriters. On the field AND off. As a Falcons fan (shut up, I know, OK?) I look forward to an exciting season for the NFC South...
What exactly do you me by JS?
What exactly do you me by JS? He wants Javier Sandoval, section 17 peanut vendor at the Superdome, to join Spofi and provide incontrovertable evidence that Jeremy Shockey is a top flight tight end.
tahoe, It's Jesus Sandoval, Javier's brother. Javier has been shunned to section 345 after last seasons hot pretzel incident. We told him not to do that trick, and that the salt would be uncomfortable, but he did it anyway, and the jumbotron caught everything. Poor, poor Javier. He has a limp now.
You guys are all wrong. We're obviously talking about renowned two-sport star Jarrod Saltamacchia. Major League Baseball catcher by day, NFL tight end by night. Moving to New Orleans will certainly save on travel costs, as he won't have to fly from Arlington to New Jersey every other day.
Thanks for clearing that up guys. I could have sworn we were going on about Jessica Simpson and the fact that Jerry Jones is trying to ship her off to New Orleans. I believe he was going to ask the populace and structures to relocate to Texas. That way they could trade one Big Easy for another.
