"Additionally, we felt that with these assurances, signing Barry to a one-year contract helped us pursue a long-term strategy toward getting the club back on track," Nice spin for we plan to maximize our profit while Barry attempts to break the all time home run record.

Ya gotta love spin! I can't wait for Barry to get out of the game "to spend more time with my family".

Come on. How do you get spin out of that statement? It's the truth and the club is being honest. It's pretty much saying it's not going anywhere anytime soon, but the money Bonds will generate is too good to pass up. Now, if it issued statements saying it felt strongly that Bonds exploits could help propel the club to a championship, that would be spin.

I've never hoped for a player on any team to suffer an injury, especially a career ending one. Here's hoping one or both of Bonds' gimpy knees finally blow short of 756.

Bonds has made me a Giant hater. He is a narcissist and as a result has no idea what he is doing (and has done) to the game.

As a native San Franciscan I've loved and supported the Giants since they arrived in town. I'm sorry to say that's changed since Barry joined the team. To see how the Giants fawn over the spoiled jerk makes me want to puke. The owners and management of the Giants are more than willing to let the Giants go to hell to keep him, ignoring the fact that it's a team game. In the past couple years I've refused to watch the Giants play at PacBell/ SBC/AT&T Park, or whatever it's called today, even when I'm offered free tickets. I love the game of baseball, but I dispise the pompous, lying, drug using Mr. Bonds. I do have the satisfaction of knowing that Barry won't ever get the World Series ring he so badly wants. Break a leg Barry, no, really, please break a leg.
