Tim Hardaway, the yin to Jon Amaechi's yang: "First of all I wouldn't want him on my team," said Hardaway. "Second of all, if he was on my team I would really distance myself from him because I don't think that's right and I don't think he should be in the locker room when we're in the locker room."

"While you're indulging in some fantasy about choosing who you'd like to share a foxhole with--I didn't know you got to pick--" Well you may not know military units are broken down into squad size, approximately 12 men. Like basketball but with much more at stake. "In either scenario, make sure you imagine yourself surrounded by the Creeping Gay Horde." Date who you want dude I don't really care but I don't want to hear the intimate details of your lifestyle choice and problems with your husband. And you guys are a creeping horde everything today is gay gay gay gay. Hollywood and the supporting media is creating the gay state. Enough already.

Tim Hardaway doesn't feel like being in a shower with a homosexual ""GASP"". Most of the posts here are sympathetic towards the gay player and I'm surprised. There is a reason the guy was in the closet up to now. It's because he knew the reactions he would recieve, for one he knew the straight guys would feel uncomfortable showering with him and that his lifestyle choice could affect team morale. Being a successful unit on the basketball court requires trust, unity, friendship, and loyalty. Common bonds include love of women, nice cars, nice possessions etc. Maybe that list is shallow but these guys play basketball, they are not computer engineers or ACLU lawyers so what do people expect from a player's reaction? I'm with Hardaway to this extent, if I am in a foxhole for two days waiting for the enemy I want to share that moment in my life with someone who shares my values. When we talk I don't want to hear about how uncomfortable last Thanksgiving was at the "inlaws" house and how hard it is for him and his husband in this society. You have got to be kidding me!

Lefty Answers Prayers of Football's Dirtiest Player Who would have ever thought the former dirtiest player in the NFL would have a guardian angel who swings a golf club?

posted by dyams at 04:53 PM on February 12

The NFL treats their former players only slightly better than the Roman treated their gladiators. How many kids of disabled former players could they have sponsored to college on the money they paid Prince for that hideous halftime show? Phil is a true role model. I tell my kids to watch his movements. Class personified!

Bonds has made me a Giant hater. He is a narcissist and as a result has no idea what he is doing (and has done) to the game.

Michael Vick Passes the Buck The Atlanta Falcons quarterback's 2006 season: 2,474 passing yards, 1,039 rushing yards, 20 touchdown passes, 2 touchdown runs, and one provocative comment after Sunday's season-ending loss: "I don't see how people can point the finger at me. I think I had a great season. ... I can't do it all by myself. I call myself Superman, but I really don't have the cape on my back."

Who would you want right now if you were starting a new team today? S.F.s Smith or Atlanta's Vick? I'll take Smith. Drop back passer with an ability to roll out vs. a running QB with marginal passing skills. Vick's time has come and gone sad to say.

Arenas On Kobe: "My Numbers Are Blowing His Out Of The Water" Gilbert Arenas has been putting up a lot of points this season and feels that his numbers compare well to Kobe Bryant's. "I'm glad what I'm doing is on national television so they can finally see what I did in the past; my 29 [points per game last season] is not a fluke. What I did in the playoffs is not a fluke. What I've done the last five years is not a fluke," Arenas said. "Everybody says, 'Oh, he's not better than this person, he's not better than that person.' But if you go year by year, number-wise, what's the difference between me and Kobe? He had Shaq. He got three rings. Other than that, my numbers are blowing his out of the water the first six years in the league.

Frankly the NBA could use a new scoring front man. Gilbert has not been alleged to have raped a blonde hotel desk clerk and then covering it up by buying his lady a 6 million dollar ring (LMAO). Oh btw, that would not work on a smart wife! Dumb and dumber living in bliss? I like Arenas. He was trained by Lute and knows how to carry himself. There could be hope for the NBA yet!

Nice story. Good for your school kid. As for his grammar I understand and accept this is now the standard for the average California high school student. My kids attend high school at Clovis West in Fresno and my sophomore informs me most kids never turn in homework or class assignments. Some of the A.P. classes are so noisy the kids that want to learn can barely hear the teacher. The teachers that care are worn down by Christmas break. One P.E teacher is on the cell phone all day talking to her girlfriend even when her class is on the swimming rotation. Even so Clovis West consistantly fields national top 20 sports teams and cheer squads. There are serious minded kids and some good teachers and many graduates go on to Stanford, Cal, Harvard and other outstanding universities. Frankly the kid who wrote the piece above would probably pull a B out of 10th grade English (non-honors) anywhere in the California.

Sorry Mr. Stern but the players have had enough. There has been two unfair labor practice charges filed against the NBA, do in large part to issues involving the new ball and the "zero-tolerance policy."

I don't watch NBA games for a couple of reasons, One is Kobe Bryant and two, it's boring until the final minute that always turns into 15 real minutes anyway. I don't care about foul calling and I understand why they keep a tight reign on these guys. If they allow it to get too sloopy they will be tempting all out brawls and then it will just end up hockey by another name. My final knock on the NBA is the players are generally pot heads. I know not all of them are high 24/7 but everyone knows the NBA and pot are an issue. I don't really care if a person drowns himself in smoke every night but I will not point my kids to games played by people that use it.

Quick, name a sulking NFL receiver looking bad on the sidelines: Marvin Harrison? Showing that anyone is prone to a selfish, me-only attitude once in a while, the Colts put a hurting on the Eagles Sunday night despite Marvin Harrison's out-of-character act.

posted by dyams at 06:31 PM on November 28

Please don't even put the classy Harrison on the same page as Owens, Johnson or Moss. Harrison is one of the only role models in Football period! I believe Harrison accepts the reality that he makes millions of $s per year to play a game of pitch and catch. Do your job, thank God for the opportunity and be humble in the process. He does that.

Bo Schembechler Dies on Eve of Michigan/Ohio State Game Former University of Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler collapsed during a TV show taping and has died, according to a Detroit TV station. In some extremely mistimed bad taste, an Ohio State-supporting band called the Dead Schembechlers have been getting lots of press this week.

Quarterback Drew Brees tell his mom to go long -- off a short pier Brees, the signal caller for the New Orleans Saints, has asked his mother Mina to remove his photo from political ads she's running in a bid for a slot on Texas's 3rd Court of Appeals.
