The next big brand in sports?: "I looked at protective products on the market and thought this is a load of crap," Palmer says. "I thought I could do something better."

I don't know about athletic gear, but this guy could make a fortune building customized shipping containers. We're always trying to pack & ship sensitive electronic equipment for one or another of our field tests, and we always seem never to have just the "right" size or shape of shipping container. Most of the time the athlete's injury will heal. Have you ever tried to replace 2 or 3 million bucks worth of electronics in a hurry?

This sounds like a bad idea to me. Just play the game like it's always been played.

This sounds like a bad idea to me. Just play the game like it's always been played. The purist argument against technological advances in sports safety equipment fails when you consider that sports today aren't played "like [they've] always been played." Football players are bigger, ski racers are faster, the physical consequences of playing many of these games is greater than ever. If you want to skinny football players down to where a 200-pounder is a big guy, then fine, feel free to go back to the leather helmets without the face guards while you're at it.

I agree that sports are changing. Athletes are bigger and stronger, and a little extra protection probably doesn't hurt anyone. As for needing custom cases...check out Nashville custom case. Cool people who do great work.
