The next big brand in sports? "I looked at protective products on the market and thought this is a load of crap," Palmer says. "I thought I could do something better."

Up with Stevie Y. The Wings had to honor him in some way. I imagine this is just the start.

Rice To Retire With 49ers Next Week. I like the move to sign a contract with San Francisco and then immediately retire. Somehow the idea of him retiring from any other team just wouldn't seem right. Just as I'm sure he'll be presented as a Niner when he goes into the Hall of Fame. The halftime honors in Nov is a nice touch. I'm not an SF fan, but I'll still miss watching him play.

I'm really sick of hearing people say he should have retired years ago. F that. It's his life and if he wants to play until he's 70 who the f are we to tell him no. Just like i should not be able to tell you when to retire from your chosen career we should shut our mouths about sports figures. The only sport wich i belive it is acceptable is boxing due to health problems exe. Ali. Other than that it's his life to live. Shut Up.
Hasek to return to Wings Dominik Hasek is returning for a third tour of duty with the Detroit Red Wings. The team announced Monday it has signed the 41-year-old to a one-year deal, believed to be worth about $500,000 plus incentives.

How long will Broduer stay in New Jersey? Marty signs a six year deal which will last him till he turns 40. He says he wants to follow in Ken Daneyko's shoes and spend his entire career with the Devils. No doubt he could have got $7 million/yr but wanted to give Lou some extra cap room.

The shootout, the NHL's guilty little pleasure. Some coaches hate it. Others are dismissive of it. It makes many players nervous, while others love the adrenaline rush. Regardless, fans love it to death.

6'2" v 7'2" Ruiz vs. Beast from the East. Aluev is 43-0 and will be the tallest and heaviest champion of all time if he beats Ruiz (42-5-1) on Saturday night.

I really hope they do call things throughout the entire year. The game just has not been the same since sefenders started holding up players. It slows the game down and makes it boring to fans. I hope the go back to the 80's style of play where the ice was open players like gretzky were able to use the entire ice, and make great passes go on fast breaks, and create scoring oppertunities. If he started his career in 95, he would not be able to do half of what he did in the 80's. P.S. Messier is god. Go RANGERS!!
This sounds like a bad idea to me. Just play the game like it's always been played.
