I thinkg there is one answer to the Millen problem (I have friends in DET): Outsource Millen to India. And Charley: well, we'll send him to Canada so he can smoke with Ricky Williams.

How so? Just curious. Mainly by emphasising the rules in the book that the Pats liked to bend, specifically the ones around pass defense. The year after one of the Indy playoff games where the Pats mugged the WRs and TEs all game, Bill Polian, as part of the CC, had the league emphasize that point. Just seems weird that interested parties have a seat on the committee.
Helluva point there, yerfatma, though, I doubt that was the first or only time that someone's place on the committee was used to advantage...and Polian was, and is, grasping at whatever he can, to get over the hump.
