Boxer Mesi Ready to Make Comeback : Heavyweight fighter Joe Mesi begins his comeback this weekend from a serious head injury (at least two subdural hematomas — brain bleeds ) and two years of countless medical examinations and courtroom battles.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like his manager (who is also his father) needs to have his head examined as well. His comment about their run for the roses sounds like this guy only views his son as a meal ticket. Makes me wonder who Joe has as the benificary of his life insurance policies.

Ten specialists cleared Mesi. If the man wants to fight, let him.

I agree let him fight. If, God forbid, he die in the ring you know where to point the finger, at the dad and they guy laying on the mat, not moving.

Somebody should sit Baby Joe down in front of The Set-Up. Sorry Baby Joe, but you just weren't that good before the head injuries. But don't let me stop you...

Let the man fight, I say. It's not like he's going up against a champion (he will face 41-year-old journeyman Ron Bellamy (14-4-4) on Saturday.) Mesi has something to prove to himself.

Didn't we have this argument before? Go Bruschi.

"Somebody should sit Baby Joe down in front of The Set-Up" At (31-0) he must know how to box, even though it looks like he uses his head to block punches. He has that boxers mentality and no one can tell him different. Until he has this next fight, he will not be satisfied. If its on TV I'm watching it!

Quit while you're ahead baby joe. you suck just like the rest of the division (except of course james toney who is the fuckin man).

james toney????? lol that steriod freak couldnt beat a boxer in his dreams and if he did he better wakeup and apologize. why doesnt he fight tarver or wright??? theres no real talent in heavy weight division.

posted by p0p3y3 at 04:30 PM on March 30, 2006

p0p3y3 do you even know boxing? You would have to go back almost 10yrs since the last time toney lost you call that shitty? I do agree with you the Heavyweight Division is the worst it's been in over 10 yrs.,.,.And as far as toney/tarver/wright....tarver and wright might need to spend 7-8 months eating at Golden Coral everyday till they reach the Heavyweight limit.,.,.,Today all the talent in boxing is at lightweight/welterweight/middleweight divisions.....p.s. I say let him fight 10 specialist is enough Insurance for me...Now as far as talent I couldn't help out Mesi....

posted by Grrrlacher at 05:09 PM on March 30, 2006

roy jones jr beat toney. fyi boxing, fan. did u know toney beat holyfield only cuz he was steriods? hello u so called boxing fans wake up and smell the shit! vargas lost 2 de la hoya on that shit too wheres the talent?????? mayweather? light heavy weight at which tarver fights at 175 to 190. tarver goes in at 205 will knock toney into tomorrow.y?cuz he knows how to fight ( ps Grrrlacher toney isnt much heavier than that)

posted by p0p3y3 at 05:27 PM on March 30, 2006

toney lost to jones over ten years ago dipshit pop3y3. and by the way i'm garaunteeing hopkins is going to pick the highly overrated tarver apart this summer when they fight.

posted by ggermanctl@sbcglobal at 05:33 PM on March 30, 2006

lol hopkins has never gotten hit like tarver hits even jones doesnt hit as hard i think.hopkins should fight at that weight instead of picking on the middle weights lol ggermanctl r u saying hopkins can beat toney's sorry ass? my moneys on hopkins too if they meet. over rated hes a better boxer than toney will ever be. maybe toney moved up in weight too fight all the nontalent in that division.the reason y 1 champion reigns for so long in the heavy weight division is cuz they all sux.

posted by p0p3y3 at 05:49 PM on March 30, 2006

but tarver won't hit hopkins clean. tarvers whole career is fueled by a pair of wins against an aged and somewhat overrated roy jones. tarver has lost to eric harding and glen johnson, who the hell are those guys. hopkins knocked glen johnson out when they fought.

Do you always put your foot in your mouth or is today a special ocassion?....I'll repeat Toney hasn't lost In almost 10 years...and that bullshit lost to Jones is still a big contraversy...But hey to a NON BOXING FAN like youreself there's always figure skating...

Mesi makes more news for his head injury than for his boxing skills. He can continue to fight journeymen and has-beens (or never was') but he's just not that good. The problem with his injury is he always takes a beating in fights because he never blocks a punch. He'll probably get hurt again, but at least it will be in keeping with his own wishes.

Wow I had no idea Mesi was a nationally known boxer. As you can tell from my post name i live in Buffalo and Mesi is always on the news with the ooo hes coming backs and the trials. Before now I didn't know people across the country even knew his name. Hey I got his autograph any buyers?

Hey buffalo,I'll give you 1 get out jail free card from monopoly,a ball of yarn,1 wheat penny and 2 brand new shiny nickels....."deal or no deal?"

Perhaps this is why boxing is struggling -- none of the fans can read to find out when the fights are.

posted by wfrazerjr at 11:04 AM on March 31, 2006

Thanks for all that boxing history, and grammer lessons, But isn't this about Mesi and his come back from a serious head injury?

It's funny how wfrazerjr has time to "flame" but none to make any valid contributions to the link. I guess it falls into the opinions and assholes category....

ya frazer u a-hole stp triing to mak this place diffurent from all the other hell-hole dumass internet sites out their. (You new guys need to heed. Bitches.) On topic - I have no idea who Mesi is. But I do come to FPPs that I have no idea about to learn about them. Unfotunately, after reading you guys, I haven't learned much.

posted by WeedyMcSmokey at 01:43 PM on March 31, 2006

No, honestly the reason boxing is struggling is because the fighters can't read or write and neither do the fans.... Hopkins-criminal, along with 80 more percent of the boxing population....there are as many divisions as there are professional baseball teams. Don King is still thriving...and not in jail. I used to really love to watch boxing, when tyson was 19(criminal) or better yet, pop in an old sugar ray robinson fight...boxing will never be that way again, even if james 'lights out, on social security" toney doesn't lose for another 20 years and fights george foreman for the world's wrinkliest fighter award.

i say shut the hell up jackass. If that's the best you can contribute, perhaps you should have stayed with Yahoo! chatrooms. I'm sure they miss you over there. The member you so casually showed your ass to has contributed more to this site than you likely ever will. Best to get the feel of the community before you go soiling yourself in public.

I also come to FPP's on sports that I don't know much about but with all the insensible garbage written above, I have to agree with fraze, weedy, and TBH in that I can't read a single word in some of the posts above.

Apparently, some boxing fans are suffering from sympathetic brain damage as evidenced by this thread. This makes being a Cowboys fan comparitively easy....
