Pitching wins aren't a good indicator. Just ask Nolan Ryan.:
A nice little breakdown about one of those wacky events in baseball: arguably the best pitcher of the season (statistically) ends up with a losing record. Sorry, a terrible losing record. Just how bad were those 1987 Astros? A nice little article from Aaron Gleeman. And dig that funky uniform!

I thought the shot at Joe Morgan at the end was unnecessary, but he's always had a "hate on" for Joe's ramblings. This is a better argument than the rant I posted earlier from Lee Sinins about no-hitters and wins.

Interesting stuff Grum. I heard in some circles that Ryan wasn't well liked on a few teams because the impression was that he was more concerned with strikeouts than wins. But those are incredible numbers concerning that Halladay won the Cy this year with an ERA over 3. Morgan clearly has a hitter's eye when it comes to talking pitching. "Sure he lost 1-0 or 2-1, but he got outptched and didn't pitch well enough to win." WTF?

Just an FYI: the triple small text is unreadable in some browsers that aren't IE.

Joe Morgan is an idiot, and that shot at him is entirely necessary. More people ought to do it, because the general public is fooled into thinking that he actually knows what he's talking about.

Let's just clarify — ANY shot at Joe Morgan is completely justified. Morgan is the leading asshole (thank you, Blazing Saddles!) in his field, thanks to his having no grasp of pitching. I'm amazed how many times Jon Miller says "What?" to Morgan during broadcasts, only to have Joe either ignore him or try to clarify his thoughts and trip himself with his own ignorance.

Gleeman and the entire Baseballprimer crowd really hate Joe Morgan.

Would single/double small work instead? Single and double are fine. It's just at the default text size in Moz, the third time is the charm. /off-topic Joe Morgan is a yutz. Clearly every time you lose 1-0 you've been outpitched. Never a bad break, never a funny bounce, never a bad call or one bad pitch. You flat out stunk.

Joe Morgan is in the HOF and you're not. Hate the broadaster, but love the HOF 2nd baseman.
