Winless 49ers Fire Offensive Coordinator: The San Francisco 49ers have responded to their 0-3 start by firing offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye. The 49ers' 38 points this season are second lowest, atop only the Carolina Panthers. "Raye's doom was probably sealed when Yahoo.com detailed after Game 1 that Raye had trouble deciding on plays in a timely manner, and didn't always use the proper terminology when radio-ing those plays to the sideline," writes Scott Ostler.

Shocking development, in light of his history.

Yeah, this should get Alex Smith on track.

If Jimmy Raye was an actor, he'd be Ted McGinley.

How this guy got his last three coordinator jobs is beyond me. Except, and I hate to say this, because teams need help with their minority hiring. I hate the old boys syndrome and I don't care if the skin is purple--you get three chances, say, and fail at all three then you don't get a fourth.

Norv Turner, for me, is a classic example of a great OC who should never have gotten his last two head coaching jobs. Look at the talent he had his first season with the Chargers. Sure he got them 14 wins, in the regular season, playing in the weak ass AFC West, but did he get them the Lombardi Trophy? NoIdontThinkSo!
