SportsFilter: Sports Community Weblog

NCAA Hoops Chat I assume some folks will head over to the campfire site, but in case anyone wants to use good ole fashioned IRC, I have registered a channel on slashnet's server: irc://irc.slashnet.org/ sportsfilter Stop by during the tournament to follow the action.

Terp, is the link borked? I get an error page.

I just checked it and it works fine; however, it may be that it only works in browsers which have been told what IRC client to use. For example, if you use FireFox consider downloading the plugin for ChatZilla. Then the link will work automagically. Otherwise, one needs to fire up the IRC client of their choice and manually enter "irc.slashnet.org" into the server section and then when connected join the channel (type "/join #sportsfilter" without the quotes). I am usually there during the day, so use my AIM contact, or follow my website link to the contact section of that site to email me if you want.

I'm in there now. Long live underutilized and/or forgotten technologies. I have some serious attachment. My first internet booty call was through IRC.

WhaleShit, how do I registure my nicname and get in? My last compcrash lost my Campfire info as well. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks to you all.

WhaleShit?

If you are prompted that someone owns your nickname on slashnet.org then unless you have the password (assuming you own it) then you will have to wait a period of time (30 days?) of nonuse before it will be released by nickserv. If your nick has not been registered you can use it without problems or type "/msg nickserv help" to learn how to register your nick. As for campfirenow, you'll have to speak with DrJohnEvans I believe. Thanks to wfrazerjr for stopping in and keeping me company. I have to run some errands now, but hope to be back on the IRC channel for the Maryland/Butler game.
